acmejeff -> PBEM Intelligence Report Problem (4/8/2005 6:29:02 AM)

I have been doing some Head to Head practice turns in preparation for doing a PBEM game. In the Intelligence Report screen, as the Japanese, I have been halting production of the Shinano. Now that I am starting my PBEM game I find that the Aircraft Reinforcements and Ship Availability options are not open to me. Any idea of why this might be? All the options of the Head to Head practice turns are in the same settings as my PBEM game. I have the 1.4 update installed. HELP! [:(]

I thought I checked all the previous posts for this problem but didn't realize I was only looking at 90 days of history. The answer was found further back, apparently the first turn on PBEM games has these buttons locked. Can't see why we are forced to waste production for a day on items that should be dead on arrival.

Has to do with variable reinforcements. Idea is that the Japanese player shouldn't be able to start the scenario, see if he likes the reinforcements, restart if he doesn't....

That part makes sense, but IIRC someone reported the button is also locked for historical reinforcements. No logical reason it has to be that way, but it's obviously simpler and the impact isn't all that significant.

And there's nothing magical about that first day. You might argue that you shouldn't have to construct the ship that day, I might argue that if I was Supreme Commander I would never have started construction and should get a chunk of banked points instead. Things have to start somewhere.

Okay, not allowing the Japanese the chance to keep restarting the turn until he gets a favorable reinforcement schedule makes sense for this. Never thought of it in that way. Thank you.
