BigB -> conformist (4/9/2005 1:58:28 PM)

blah blah blah

you've all done a terrible job on this game and the fact it does not duplicate history exactly makes me so mad that i just want to cry. i cant stand the thought of someone trying to make a game that does not allow me to have the exact results of ww2. im so pissed off that i might lose a pbem because my friggin troops dont act the way they do in real life. the thought of a game that is based on ww2 pto that does not provide me with the ability to win makes me sick. i hate you witp creators because you have not givin me the way to win the way i want to win. you suck and your game is flawed!

[&:][&:] are you being sarcastic ? I hope so

This is THE best and ONLY game in this genre with the amout of detail the devs have kindly provided for our enjoymnent. Also damn well supported with needed patches and some great player made mods. What is there to complain about? ( ron i please don't want to read another diatribe on subs [:'(][:D])

BigB if your serious why did you buy it in the first place ?? the forum is full of information about game style and content .. just read an AAR for %$rist's sake.

Oh well .. don't even know why i replied to this .. i must be bored [:D]

Either that or, as the patch isn't out yet, a reprise of the aircraft upgrades debate.[;)]

Guys...Lighten up..He is being facetious,and we are all friends here..That's his right..
He was VERY obviously making fun of the jokers who DO want to critisize(without contributing),and showing how they are acting like big babies,(or girly-men)..[8|]

Sonny -> RE: conformist (4/9/2005 3:34:04 PM)

Gotta agree BigB. I saw my KOEI PTO II in the closet yesterday and was tempted to get it out and get back to REAL war in the Pacific.

I don't think so. He has all of 13 posts to his persona and at least half of them have been nothing but whining and complaining of his own; all of it aimed squarely at posters he perceives as whiners.

He's on a personal crusade.[8|]

TulliusDetritus -> RE: conformist (4/9/2005 3:45:58 PM)

BigB, you are forgetting that the creators of this game are giving you that possibility. You want to receate the WW2 in the Pacific? You can. Play against yourself => a "hot seat" game. Easy. I suspect soon or late I will be doing that myself.

If you are going to say "this is boring", then I will tell you that real "professionals" (West Point, etc.) mostly "recreate" conflicts, that is, they study them. Us the "amateurs" play wargames. Quite different. Conclusion: you have that possibility, so don't be sad [:)]

Yeah, well... Aren't we out of discussion topics for game routines that won't be changing? I mean, we've beaten to death ASW, bombardment, land combat, surface sombat, air combat, morale, production, the map, leadership, the OOB, A6M vs. F4F-4, Iowa vs. Yamato...

I suppose we could give the weather model a drubbing, but I'd rather beat on the petulant (I think one of the stock definitions of 'petulant' is 'BigB') newbie.[:D]

Rob Brennan UK -> RE: conformist (4/9/2005 4:12:20 PM)

Koei PTOII .. wasnt that a very odd 'card' based game from yonks ago . I think i bought it and never understood a thing [>:]

Ok something constructive .. the state of the England rugby team .. world champions hurrah ! ..

Totally messed up the six nations [:@]... what a joke lol

how will the lions tour of the southern hemisphere go come summer? (for us in the north)

or we could chat amiably about the ASW and sub realism aspects of WitP[:D] ... slap self on wrist .. didnt mean to type that [:-]

[:D][:D]

michaelm75au -> RE: conformist (4/9/2005 4:12:59 PM)

Truly, if you want the >exact< results of the PTO in WW2, why bother playing a game at all as you already know the results?[&:]

Unless "BigB" stands for BIG BULLSH1TTER, you might notice that you HAVE TOTALLY FAILED TO POINT OUT ANY
SPECIFIC REASONS OR EXAMPLES TO BACK UP YOUR CLAIM! If you have read this forum, you must have
discovered that there is a fair amount of support around for the view that 2by3 "dropped the ball" in a number
of areas---but without supplying any examples of what you find inaccurate, you are just making a lot of noise
that signifies nothing. So please, PUT UP or SHUT UP. The message you sent is a waste of space.

How true. Alas, i am allergic to cats, probably from buying too many to correct past mistakes...[:D]

von Murrin -> RE: conformist (4/9/2005 5:49:30 PM)

Yeah, players who are winning somehow seem to resent the cats destroying the game, for some reason... go figure.[8|]

Was thinking of starting up a rent-a-cat business for gamers, but computer games came along and limited their usefulness drastically. Really screwed up the business model![:D]

Halsey -> RE: conformist (4/9/2005 5:58:48 PM)

I've got it![;)]

Why isn't there an intrinsic amph bonus for the Allies after 1/44? To simulate the use of UDT units!

Or, an additional supply loss to China for having Madame Chiang's cost for buying Western style high heels included in supply determination?

Oh, wait a minute. That was Emelda Marcos wasn't it?[:D]

eMonticello -> RE: conformist (4/9/2005 6:44:29 PM)

There may have been a card game that I don't know of but the one I have is a computer game. Kind of a PACWAR lite.

Rob Brennan UK -> RE: conformist (4/9/2005 8:18:42 PM)

it was a computer game .. but without hexes ( my memory from so long ago has become blurred through alchohol [:D])

and you played cards to perform actions , sort of like a ww2 version of 'magic the gathering' . sorry i cant be more informative .. but at leaset we aren't pandering to bigb's original petulant post [:)]

why dosnt he reply here and explain his problems ? i originally assumed he was being sarcastic .. have since changed my mind .. come on BigB defend yourself [:'(]

doktorblood -> RE: conformist (4/9/2005 8:22:35 PM)

Cats are anti-wargaming and should be banned. Back in the day of the gigantic board wargames our family cat would horribly disfigure history by staging nocturnal missions to walk across the Soviet Union in our War in the East setup ... disheveling the the mighty armies and perhaps even chewing on a few panzer divisions. High command was perplexed at the tremendous power of the Cat as they observed the talon punctures in the terrain around Sevastapol.

Marshall Zhukov proposed a joint offensive to get rid of the Cat, but in the end such a campaign was overruled. It seemed that the Cat was protected by the Supreme Household Command.

That is why we had to invoke not only the "Hand of God" rule, but also the "Paw of Cat" rule - either that or lock the door, which just made them chew the rug.

SKORPIO -> RE: conformist (4/9/2005 8:32:09 PM)

An abortive attempt was made to eliminate the Cat when one Russian sub-commander brought a secret weapon (code named DOG), however, the attempt backfired when the Cat took refuge on the gaming board, resulting in massive destruction starting around Sevastopol, through Stalingrad, then Moscow and up through the Finnish front before the Cat hastily exited by leaping on top of the bookcase.[:-]
