Feinder -> Proper updating procedures for PBEM (4/28/2005 7:14:51 AM)
|
I usually send this reminder to my PBEM opponents, but I thought I'd post this here, if anyone finds it useful... === Just wanted to touch base with all, and review "good" updating procedures. If possible... 1. Make final turn of Japanese and Allied moves under v1.4. 2. Japan executes Allied player turn under v1.4. Once you have executed the turn and generated the replay... 3. Save the game. 4. Exit WitP 5. Install patch v1.5 6. Load the saved game, and make your moves accordingly. This insures that all moves and executions will have been completed under the same version. Of course, many (if not all of us), have several games going at once, and are eager to upgrade. The above procedure is "best case". I doubt we'll all get turns and updates in the proper order, so we can all expect some wonkiness in the replays for the next turn or so until everyone is upgraded (seems to be the case with patches). PLEASE, PLEASE, Japanese players, send the Combat.Txt files to your Allied opponents, to provide for them a correct copy of the replay (otherwise, we've seen "peculiar" results the after upgrades). Sending the Combat.Txt file to your Allied opponent is good practice anyways. When sending out your turns, please indicate which version you have made your moves on. That way, an Allied player can try to keep things in-sync, and complete all turns under v1.4 (that should be), before upgrading. While I have DL'd the patch, I have not installed it yet. I'll wait until I start getting v1.5 turns from y'all, before I upgrade the patch. -F-
