Wild Bill -> A TRIBUTE to Mr. David Heath - SALUTE! (5/2/2005 6:46:41 PM)

I think that it is time for a little recognition ceremony. I was working with SPWAW today, continuing the fun task of completing this new series that we'll soon be presenting here on Korea. As I went through the game, the music playing, I noticed that the music, along with everything else in this magnificent development of SP, is great. Not only have I worked with seven gaming companies on various games out there, but I've also worked extensively on all versions of Steel Panthers, being a member of every team of SP, SP2, SP3, the early stages of SPWW2 and this final magnficent presentation of the game known as "Steel Panthers, World at War." Often behind the scenes, and devoting literally thousands of man hours was Mr. David Heath. It took me some time and convincing to David to get him really into the earlier versions of SP that came from the old SSI Gaming Company. Once he was, however, David gave it all he had. And he has a lot. He organized, recruited, and coordinated the making of this version. He found graphics artists, musicians, programmers and folks like me, pulled us together in a family-like team and we went to work. That was NOT EASY. There were personality conflicts, differences of opinion, and many times when he must have felt like giving up. But David NEVER gives up! Through 8 complete versions and a number of minor segments, we've gone from SPWAW to SPWAW 8.3. Its been a long hard road, some six years in the making and dozens of folks have come and gone. David is still here. He supported the game, worked day and night to secure the code, have it converted to Windows, searched high and low for good sounds, and so many other things. Many times David and I were talking at 2AM or later. He was incessant in his efforts to make this happen. We all enjoy so much this fine game. It is time to offer our thanks and a big "SALUTE" to Mr. David Heath. Had it not been primarily for him, we would not have SPWAW. David and I don't always agree, but we are good friends, fellow soldiers in the fight to try to give you the best. I have to say to him "THANK YOU." You've made this old gamer's heart very happy. Your work is appreciated! Wild Bill
