Strela_Oz -> Call me crazy - New Scenario 13 coming (5/22/2005 7:41:50 AM)

Hi all,

After posting my request for updated Scenario 13's I was greeted by a deafening silence (other than Bombur!). So I am in the middle - and asking for permission to combine two existing mods.

I am half way through applying the CHS database to Andrews modified scenario 13 for his map. So firstly do either of those groups (CHS/Andrew) have any issues here?

The basis that I am working on is using the detailed Air, class and ship data base from CHS while using the positions from Andrew 113 scenario using his map. I am veting locations (size etc) from both mods and picking what I think is reasonable.

Most this is coming together quite quickly, but I am struggling with the allied airforce which has been significantly changed in CHS from the original scenario.

Assuming no issues with groups mentioned above, an alpha will be out later this week [:)]

What will be the premise of your scenerio?

Hi the premise is the standard Scenario 13 - Coral Sea to the End campaign. This is updated for all the work that has been done bu the CHS team and on Andrews version 3 map.

I think it's a great idea. Good luck!

Well, there is no problem as far as I am concerned.

I am currently a good way towards releasing a revised version of scenario 113 (based on scenario 13) myself, although it will simply be an update to my current scenario 113. It won't be using the CHS database or air unit revisions.

Andrew,I am "sold" on CHS..You guys spoiled me..It's historically more complete and accurate..

Not at all - if fact I'll look at your scenario when released and see if there's anything I want to use. Share and share alike, one for all and all for one, etc.

Looking forward to it!!! The CHS definitely needs to be expanded to the other scenarios!!! [:)]

Thank you all for the encouragement and the permission to continue [:D]

State of play is now as follows ;

I have a fully functioning scenario up and running using the CHS database. I am currently working through the following pending release for testing ;

USAAF units. CHS has broken down all units to squadron size - the standard scenario works in air groups. I have temporarily removed all squadrons that started in the CHS scenario pre May 1942, as they are represented by the original scenario 13 starting groups. I am looking to now remove the groups and replace them with the squadrons that I have previously removed.... I need to do some research to determine what squads belonged to what group.

Base values. I am not to certain what bases have been built up between Dec 7, 1941 and May 1, 1942. There are a few obvious places such as Umnak, but I have to review the whole map.

Air, Devices, Leaders, Pilots and Ship class are unchanged from the original CHS.

Debugging locations - Generally reviewing every base to make certain nothing has been left behind.... (I found B18 Bolos happily living with their new Japanese friends in Manila)

Finally a big thanks to MichealM for his fabulous Export/Import program - it has made this exercise easier than I thought using csv files and Excel's vlookup function!!
