guderian39 -> Severe bug concerning jap. aircraft replacements (5/23/2005 12:29:01 PM)

Hello,

having installed Patch 1.5, my Game went on quite smoothly.
Apart from the known malfunction of the Auto Convoy System, I discovered another severe malfunction.
From March 1944 on, replacements of badly mauled Ki.61-wings (until now 4 wings) manifest as separate sub-units (e.g. 78th Sentai/1) at PEARL HABOR !!!.
These wings are both wings originaly equipped with Ki.61 as well as manuelly updated ones. Before March, the problem does not seem to have occured.
One originally equipped wing has been replaced correctly.

So far, I seem to have lost 140 aircraft and pilots this way.

Is this problem known?
When will a fix be available.

Until fixed, my game will be suspended.

Kind Regards,

Sebastian

Do you have a save of this?

Preferably one before it happens.

Michael

Is that an example of a corrupt file?

From this, I am assumming it is a game started under some older version. So corruption is always possible.

But why IJ replacements would show up at PH (an Allied base) is interesting. Of course, PH is still in Allies hands?[&:]

Hi, Without anything to go on there are several questions I have.
What HQ is the group assigned to?
Is this a case of a group beyond normal range of HQ set to receive replacements were HQ creates a fragment to fly to parent but fragment was created at wrong base (in this case enemy base)
How many groups currently have fragments? and how many groups have been split? (did the fragment get pushed out of reserved slots)

What Iīm asking myself how this corruption can happen in my games, because I didnīt continue an old game. And Erik told me that my weird port (naval) attacks occuring due to a corrupt file. Even after a clean install.... I sweared if I canīt get it fixed Iīll stop playing WITP because for me thatīs a game breaker but just last weekend Iīve started a new campaign (and already have encountered this bug or corupt file with these attacks).

Hi, Castor save your game after orders phase every turn. When you get one of your attacks send the save to MNeer1@woh.rr.com
Make sure you don't send a save after the attack I want the one before the attack.
So if you save every turn you just send the save from the turn the event occured.
Thanks.

However you do realize that aircraft do use torpedos in port attacks when the system works correctly.
They just will be reported at 200 feet.
Improper range is something altogether apart and ships without CAP will be attacked in situations where ships with CAP will not. (The point here is not to dismiss the bugs but insure you understand that even with the game working perfectly ships in port can be hit by torpedos and landbased air can have a normal range with torpedo that exceeds carrier torpedo range. )

I would need to check.
Normally, I do not splitt groups. This only occurs when Groups get transferred and leave some damaged units behind.

The game started under 1.21 and has been upgraded ever since.
PH has always been in Allied hands.

I have my current save and an older save with patch 1.5 as well as without.
Should I mail these files to you?

Yes I know the circumstances when torpedoes should be dropped. I had this problem with Helens doing these attacks and Avengers dropping torps from 5000 feet at a range of 5. From now I will save every turn (even up to now I didnīt like to do that because itīs just more time to wait and you will get these CTD now and then). Iīve sent saves to Frag and Erik but Erik said it was due to a corrupt file, so no bug.

mogami -> RE: Severe bug concerning jap. aircraft replacements (5/24/2005 2:48:09 AM)

Hi, If it is a corrupt file we need to discover what is corrupting your files. I have over 10 PBEM games running. I have a lot of port attacks with no problem. Also I don't have aircraft doubling their range. Before we can fix a problem we have to do at least two things.
1. Find the how
2. Find the why

michaelm75au -> RE: Severe bug concerning jap. aircraft replacements (5/24/2005 5:19:29 AM)

Send them to michaelm75@hotmail.com and I will have a look at them.
If you have a save prior to them being created, that would be good.
Just add a quick note in email as to what is happening also to jog my memory.

Michael

Okay, thanks guys. Iīll send you one when it happens again. Hope to get one soon because at the moment I donīt have that much time to play WITP. But itīs very important for me, so Iīll get you one.
