ibalkid -> Download purchase/game probs (5/24/2005 9:47:19 PM)

A few nights ago i purchased Flashpoint Germany along with Korsun Pocket and Across the Dniepr. Korsun and Across the D downloaded and extracted fine, but FPGermany, upon extraction, gave me a message that the extraction was not the the size it was supposed to be. I installed any way and upon load up of the game recieved the following message:

Could not find file: Graphics\FPG Nuke.bml

Click ok and played throught the first Tutorial. Try some of the later scenarios to see if that graphic file would cause some probelms and the game froze.

Uninstalled FPGermany and redownload. Reinstall.

Same error upon extraction. Install any way. Same error message. Uninstall.

Repeat twice more with the same exact results with both the extraction and in game error message for a total of 4 downloads, with exact results.

Is it possible Digital River has a bad file up on their servers? I have contaced them inregards to the problem but they seem to have more pressing matters.

I feel i have a long wait ahead of me before i get to play this game or mess around with the editor:(.

Is there any way of me getting the hard copy of the game at the price that was offered at point of purchase without me having to pay for the full download price again to recieve that offer? Any way that i can possibly play this game before DR gets their act together? Maybe the devs can lean on them a little:)

I know its only been a few days but i have not even heard a peep from DR , at least a email to acknowledge the problem. I did call and spoke with them twice, they informed me they will check out the download and email a response to me when the get to the bottom of things. The tech was downloading as we spoke on the phone and promised a quick response/resolution. No such luck tho.

Any advice?

ibalkid,

Please forward me copies of any e-mails or a case ID with DR to erikr@matrixgames.com. Thanks, we will look into this. If there is a problem with the file, then it has become corrupt over time since it was fine initially.

Just to confirm, have you made sure to turn off all background programs when installing?

Regards,

- Erik

Yes, but the install does not seem to be the problem. Its the information contained within the download that seems to be giving me problems. Upon unzipping the file winzip tells me that there is a corrupt something or other, and that the extracted file size does not physically match the size it should be upon extraction.

I extracted with winace twice.

Then winzip 4 more times!

About to redownload again to see if maybe it was a corrupted file and they replaced it

Error: Invalid compressed data to inflate.

Thats what Winzip says.

Redownloaded KP and Across the Dniep again and all seemed fined...:(

Sounds like a not finished or corrupted download.

You can retrieve the download link at any time (up to 30days from date of order).

Please go to our E-Store and click on "Store FAQs" , there check the "I need help downloading." link. Or go to www.findmyorder.com and enter your order number and password.

If you have troubles downloading large files then we suggest you use a download client like "Stardownloader" available for free from www.stardownloader.com . It will let you resume disconnected or broken downloads. You can even pause them and resume them whenever you want.

Woah woah woah. Not trying to be rude, but you dont seem to be reading my post.

Since i have stated that i have downloaded the game 6 times and KP and Across the Dniep twice more each for a total of 3 times each, 6 times for FPG what would make you think i need help downloading? Why do i need to find my order number? I already know how to access Digital rivers servers. I already talked to(email) matrix games and they told me(email) to talk to DR who have yet get back to me after thw two phone calls i had with them. Ive already been through the faq's. I have exhasted all my options, thats why i am posting here![:'(]

And i do not have problems downloading large files, especially from digital river who i have downloaded from for over a dozen seperate games?

The download is not interrupted at any point![&:] One thing i did notice is that when i downloaded KP, Across the Dniep, and PC-Cillin(today) that they all gave me the physical size of the download and the progress of said download, whenever i try to download FPG it never give me the physical file size in the prgress window as it does with the opther downloads. It just tells you how much it has downloaded, the phsyical file size is unknown.

I will try your suggestion though and try the dowload manager but its really pointless as this is my work computer at home and i mainly use it for the tranfer of large files(Animator/Sound Eng) I tranfer enormous files on an almost daily basis.

I just want to play this game. Is there any way for me to get a hard copy of the game at the price which was offered to me during the download? Again i would hate to have too pay twice just to get the game(I wont any way) I just want some help, not the redirection i keep getting(Not saying you have done this to me...yet![;)] I just feel slighted as a consumer...

Thanks in advance...

ibalkid,

Marc misread your original post, sorry. My reply stands - I have a request in to the store to check the archive online. I should have an answer tomorrow. If it's corrupt, we'll replace it and you can re-download.

While we are working towards post-purchase upgrades (i.e. adding a physical copy after the initial download) and expect them to be available very soon, we just don't have that capability right now, sorry. We know customers want this for a variety of reasons so we're working with the store as fast as we can to make it possible.

Regards,

- Erik

Thanks you for your response, sorry if i was terse!

Cant play the tutorials forever though!

ibalkid -> RE: Download purchase/game probs (5/25/2005 8:11:54 AM)

Okay. DR called me back! A helpful tech pinpointed the problem with my work network at home. I guess there is no way to turn off my works firewall. I manually exit out and it still runs in the backround, and it doesnt like a section of the download was the techs guess, he said that it used to happen alot with earlier online security wether it be software or hardware. Some times compressed code can be miscontrued by the security as a malicious code! He sent me to a comp thats not on the net work and all was fine. A smart chap , he really looked into the nitty gritty of the situation and spent a long time with me on the phone. He finally noticed that the downloads that did work fine with my comp were exe, and not zip files. Korsun pocket, ATD, and BII were all exe's. And they installed fine since the werent compressed. FPG is a large file and i am assuming that you could not offer the exe for download.

All seems well so far, and i assume that it will stay that way since the install went smooth as silk!

Thanks for your time, and your confidence in DR should not wain one bit, that was the best tech support guy i had ever had the pleasure of working with, and i work with alot of em in my line of work. In hindsight i was a tad impatient, sorry for that, just hard to contain myself when i have Coldwar turn based game that i havve been waiting eons for!

Thanks again! Now to go and get crushed as i learn the finer points of FPG!
