Lemurs! -> engineer vehicles/motorized support (6/10/2005 6:14:52 PM)

Hi all,

Engineering vehicles and motorized support seem to be doing the same mission, engineering.

I theorize that this is because engineering vehicles are classed 'vehicle' and there are no other devices with class 'vehicle' except motorized support.

I believe this is causing motorized support to act as engineer vehicles.

Aren't tanks and halftracks vehicles?

I just check the editor: tanks and halftracks are classified as AFV.

Only two vehicles so i think we found another easy and painless to fix bug.

Bug confirmed through testing.

Created a Dec 7th start scenario with everything stood down.
I put at Hyderabad a 1(4) airfield adjacent to Karachi the 3rd Indian Brigade.

In the first iteration of this test the TOE of the 3rd Indian Brigade is 12 engineers, 100 support squads.
8000 supply and no other units at this base.
first turn airfield went to 3%, 2nd 5%, 3rd 8%.
Cool,

Second iteration of the scenario had the TOE of the odd 3rd Indian Brigade at 12 engineers and 100 motorized support.
same conditions at base. Identical.
1st turn 81%, 2nd turn: size 2 and 52%, 3rd turn: size 3 and 19%

This test confirms that 'vehicles' are the culprit. All vehicles are tagged somewhere inside as engineer vehicles.

Third iteration was just for laughs. I changed the 3rd Indian Brigade TOE to 20 engineer vehicles and 100 support.
Same conditions at base.

There was zero growth.
This means that engineer vehicles require engineers to function.

Hi
maybe "Motorised support" should be a device type "Squad" like all the other 'support' and 'motorised' devices.

I wonder what benefit 'motorised' gives this device.[&:]

EDIT:
Lets see.
Device is in a coded slot that supplies xxx SUPPORT.
in addition because the device is Vehicle, it has xxx eng vehicles.
So this device gives xxx Support and Engineer vehicles.
Sounds like the device name is misleading.
And should only be in Engineer type formations to supply support and vehicles in one entry.
