I'm taking a complete shot in the dark here but are you running under Windows 98 or ME? There are GDI resource issues that have come to light and version 1.04 (which is due out immenently) will address them.
In the mean time if you are using one of these OS's try turning off the vehicle silhouettes if you are using them, the 'line of fire' option, and don' t use the P (path) or W (waypoints) commands.
If you are not using one of these OS's, please have a look in your game directory and see if there is a file called "fpg_report.txt". This will give me a pretty good idea what is going on if it exists. Just post it here or email it directly to me at robertc@matrixgames.com
