Napoleonic Game of Conquest Available Late June

Matrix Games announced today that Crown of Glory by Western Civilization Software (www.west-civ.com) has officially “Gone Gold” and will be available from the Matrix Games store in the final days of June. Additionally Crown of Glory will be making its debut at the Origins Gaming Convention (www.originsgames.com) in Columbus, Ohio from June 30th through July 3rd.

On the year of the 200th anniversary of the start of the Napoleonic Wars, Western Civilization Software has produced a stunning strategy title that will take you back to where it all began. Command eight major powers, including France, England, Spain, Prussia, Russia, Austria, Turkey, and Sweden, in an operational strategy game where glory is paramount. Glory can be earned through a variety of methods, ranging from combat and conquest to culture and diplomacy.

David Heath, Director of Operations for Matrix Games said, “Crown of Glory brings Napoleonic strategy gaming to a new level. Combining strategy and tactics in one design along with detailed models for diplomacy, trade and economics truly set this title apart from the crowd and the beautiful graphics are the icing on the cake. Matrix Games is proud to have worked with Western Civilization Software to bring such an enjoyable and rich strategy game to the many game-starved fans of the Napoleonic era. If you have any interest in the Napoleonic era, Crown of Glory is not to be missed!”

Crown of Glory is divided into two segments of play, a month by month strategic mode where you control the production, troop movements, diplomatic missions, and development decisions of your country, and a tactical or quick battle mode, with turns consisting of twenty minute intervals to decide the outcome of major battles. Crown of Glory covers both land and naval warfare. Armies and Navies feature a variety of realistic units, each with distinct advantages and disadvantages. Battle maps cover the whole range of terrain and weather conditions, depending on where and when on the strategic map you fight. Take artillery, horsemen, jaeger infantry, frigates, privateers and famous leaders into battle for glory and power!

The robust economic, trade and diplomatic systems allow for a wide variety of strategies beyond the production of military units. You will interact with 90 minor powers spanning over 200 different provinces, creating treaties, trade agreements, and convincing them to join your side as protectorates. Use money and social influence to gain control where force is unwise or unnecessary. Develop or plunder to boost the glory of your homeland. Glory may be fleeting, but obscurity lasts forever!

I am going to shell a few bucks for this title.

Ursa MAior -> RE: Crown Of Glory Goes Gold! (6/21/2005 3:03:15 PM)

Just to be picky 1805 isn't the start of the napoleonic wars. 1796 (first time commanding general) or 1799 (first consule) or 1804 (emperor) could be nominated as the start. But a release has to be connected with some flashy anniversary .... so I just found the reason of the sunject of my rumblings. :)

Would buy it anyway!

Hanal -> RE: Crown Of Glory Goes Gold! (6/21/2005 3:10:59 PM)

Cut us a bit of slack on that one, it's a flashy anniversary. [;)] Besides, in the game you can play the 1792, 1796, 1805 (Standard Campaign), 1815 or a fictional "balanced" 1820 campaign. Each can be customized for length and victory conditions, so really you can start whenever you want. [8D]

My life is now complete! Can't wait to blaze across Europe with my ordered ranks.

Ursa MAior -> RE: Crown Of Glory Goes Gold! (6/21/2005 5:17:58 PM)

Can't wait to see! When will it be available for download? The big distributors probably won't ship any CDs to Hungary.[:(]

Forward_March -> RE: Crown Of Glory Goes Gold! (6/24/2005 4:06:47 AM)

Can I order now? Mail to Australia takes soooooooo long. Heck, do you ship to Australia?

Erik Rutins -> RE: Crown Of Glory Goes Gold! (6/24/2005 5:26:36 AM)

It should be available for download and shipment on June 30th, the same day we will debut it at Origins 2005 (and we will be selling it there from our booth). This is not set in absolute stone, but it's pretty solid.

We do ship to Australia (we ship around the world, actually), though it can be costly as our warehouses are in the US and Europe. If you can download, that would be less expensive for you. Alternately, you could go in on ordering a few together with friends, which will reduce shipment cost per unit.

Regards,

- Erik

Reiryc -> RE: Crown Of Glory Goes Gold! (6/24/2005 5:30:20 AM)

How about we get this thing available for digital download a few days before origins?

If there are problems, best to get them handled while all the folks are still 'at home' rather than from origins. Plus the wait is killing me... [:)]

Erik Rutins -> RE: Crown Of Glory Goes Gold! (6/24/2005 5:35:07 AM)

In this case because of the need for show copies we have to wait until both download and physical copies are ready before we can launch it on the store, it's difficult to explain but that's how this one has to work. I understand how you feel but it's looking like June 30th will be the date, best case a day or two earlier.

Reiryc -> RE: Crown Of Glory Goes Gold! (6/24/2005 5:37:32 AM)

ok fair enough... future reference, don't do it that way for other releases. [:'(]

Erik Rutins -> RE: Crown Of Glory Goes Gold! (6/24/2005 5:44:05 AM)

Only doing it this way because we have to given the short time before the show - behind the scenes logistical stuff. There is also the fact that just about all of Matrix Games will be traveling on the 28th and setting up the booth on the 29th, so the 30th is the best day next week to do this. No need to worry, we will have full internet access there. [8D]

ardilla -> RE: Crown Of Glory Goes Gold! (6/24/2005 11:06:44 AM)

Great news, I think this is another great napoleonic game.

EiA it is more tactical and military focused but I really miss a better trading and national issues to manipulate, improvements and looks like CoG has it.

I will look forward to get it for this summer if Marshall doesnt give us much work [:)]

Titanwarrior89 -> RE: Crown Of Glory Goes Gold! (6/24/2005 6:12:49 PM)

Thats good news.[:D] When Witp came out you all waited about a week if I remember correctly before you released the Download to us poor fellows. While you sold it at origins. That drove some of us up the wall. I was Mad[:D] But I got over it! Glad your releasing the same time this time.[:'(]

Keep in mind that for WitP we actually finalized the version and printed CD on the morning of the doors opening at Origins! We were still burning pre-printed CDs and putting them in DVD boxes while the show was going. There was no way for us to sell it any earlier or get it up on the store before leaving. We're a bit better organized this time (at least I hope so). [8D]

Okie Doe! I didn't know that. This time, I am trying to act like a "human Being"[:D] and not bitch so much.[:D]

Jeeez, I was burning CDs on demand at the booth cause all those maniacs purchased what we had on day one and two! Glad we had boxes and box inserts on stock [;)]

I´ll never forget when I arrived at Dave´s house after a multihour journey from Germany only to hear "Hey buddy glad you´re here, there are the boxes, make'm ready for the show", LOL [:D] Gotta love 36 hour workdays.

Well at least I got a peperoni pizza which I ate at 6 in the morning, cold.

Titanwarrior89 -> RE: Crown Of Glory Goes Gold! (6/25/2005 3:58:10 AM)

I didn't realize you guys put that amount of hours in too get ready for origins and a release. I thank you for your hard work. Hope you have warm pizza this year and something a whole lot less than 36hr work days. With 36 hour days you guys could man my LP/OP's on Guadalcanal anytime. All ya need is some bullets and a large pizza.[:D]
