i installed the 1.5 patch, but the menu shows version 1.4
any ideas?

Same thing happened to me and I solved the problem but damned if I remember how. That seems to be the story of my life now days. So many beers and to few brain cells. Sure someone else will advise. It is solvable.

Versions prior to 1.6 look at the registry to see what version is installed. It is possible that your security settings prevented this from being written. In C:\Windows (or wherever your operating system is located) you will find a log file from the install.

War in the Pacific Setup Log.txt

DO NOT POST IT HERE as it contains confidential information, email it to me privately so I can see what went wrong during the install/patch.
