Echelon -> Screen Resolution not switching to 800x600! (6/5/2001 12:57:00 PM)

Just installed the full-version of SPWAW 5.01-Internet: The game is great but it appears to be stuck in 640x480 mode as all the buildings are blocky, the flags are large and the landscape is very spotty-looking. I've played earlier versions of this game and they looked a lot nicer. What gives? It is supposed to automatically select 800x600 mode. My system is usually set at 1024x768 resolution. Does this mean that I have to change to 800x600 before playing the game, or can I force it to change to a higher res? Any help would be much appreciated ...

P.S. - I have a PII-400 with 128MB RAM and I'm using the latest WHQL certified NVIDIA drivers with a Geforce II-MX card (v 12.41) on Win98SE. Thanks in advance ...

Hello, I run my desktop in 1024*768 and the game switches automatically to 800*600. Have you tried with another graphics card?

THis is likely a problem between your Video card and DirectX How does the game look? If it is not switching to 800 x 600 then you will not see the entire screen (ie it will cut off the edges and only show 640x480 of the 800x600 piture. If you are seeing the whole screen and it is just "poor quality" then its likely that there is some feature of teh video card that is messing with the color palette. Try turning off hardware accelleration and any anti-aliasing features. Anybody else with a GeForce II experiencing problems? I have a GeForce I (early) and it works fine.

Paul I have a Geforce 1 card with the latest drivers and an AMD 700mhz, 256 meg system.I still have the game crash when playing solitaire. I have tried a fresh reload, deleting steel.prf and disabling hardware acceleration. Are there any other things to try? I do have a mega_campaign cd ordered but I have a feeling the same problem will exsist. I noticed in another post that you said there is a small number of people having this problem.
