In the mapicon bitmap files, what do the four columns in each of them represent?

I'm pretty poor with certain colors and I don't like any of the "color blind" icons. I'm trying to figure this out so I can modify them to my taste.

You mean the 4 vertical columns? I think they represent the different nationalities (yellow plane => symbol of chinese airfields, for example).

Correct me if I'm wrong Frag (and I know you will [;)]) but I think the darker the shading on the plane or LCU icons the more of 'em there are at that base. As for the other stuff.............I dunno!!!!!!!!

Velkro, don't get confused, Capskillet is talking about the icons in the same "vertical" column. But every different vertical column represents the different nationailites.

sounds about right ... look towards the lower part of the bmp for the 3 sets of 3 shades if memory serves.

Might check with Subchaser to see if he already has a set that fits your needs.

Doesn't each nationality have their own sheet of icons [&:] ..........each verticle column on the mapiconsJ sheet for instance deal only with Japanese stuff.......the different darker/lighter shading of each sheet have to deal with #'s of men, planes etc for that country only.

I always thought the darker the icon is the higher the DL.

You are right, I said a silly thing. Now it's me who is confused. I have looked at the mapiconsA.bmp file. The icons that you may see on the map are the ones on the left vertical column (the green colour). The 2nd column is white/yellow, the 3rd is brown and the 4th is red. Does this mean the game is using the colour of the first left vertical column?
