brunov -> Game will not launch in Win2000 (9/7/2001 11:20:00 PM)

Suddenly, after a few weeks w/o problem in 6.1, now after the intro (spwaw.exe). the game crashes back to the desktop (I guess mech.exe is crashing). I have reinstalled the game (5.0/5.1,5.2,6.1) many times, to no result.
I have nothing wrong in my system, have checked.
System is 633 Mhz, 256 Mb, ATI Rage Mobility M1.
the display is set up 1024x768.
Any clue ?
Note : this issue is different from a similar one posted because the game itself cannot be launched

Does the game launch from the mech.exe itself?

brunov -> (9/10/2001 2:03:00 PM)

NO, mech.exe does not launch, in any version (5.01 to 6.01)

Well, if it worked, and then suddenly doesn't work, something in your system must have changed? I can send you the latest patch you can try that? Any other strange symptoms on your system?

Plse do send me the latest patch.
I forgot to mention I am using a Dell laptop, with 1024*768 resolution.
Regarding the system, I got some Visio files corrupted before the problem occurred in the game.
Also, when I install Combat Mission (yes, my other hobby ...), the game sets itself up at 640*480 and does not propose me the current laptop resolution. I have run DirectX8a diagnosis, it says Generic television, 1024*768. This is the default in my display settings i have not been able to change to laptop screen mode (have uninstalled the monitor driver but it is re-created later on as soon as I refresh the Device Mgr because the laptop has a SVHS socket)
Now, i am wondering whether this display "oddity" could have any impact on the crash of mech.exe. One last thing, when SPWaW used to work, the game was in 600*800, not 1024*728.

Sent! You may have problem with corrupted video drivers if other programs aren't working.
