kmussler -> "VR" carrier airgroups (7/5/2005 3:39:56 PM)

I have been playing the full campaign as the allies. The CVE Nassau arrives in San Fran with a capacity of 28 planes. It has two air groups: VR1-F (24 F4F-4,s) and VR1-B (24 SBD's). I ignored it for a turn before trying to move it forward to Pearl. When I looked again, the two airgroups had both expanded to 54 planes. So, a carrier with a capacity of 28 aircraft is carrying 108. I looked at the airgroups in the database editor and found that they have been entered as "Wing", designating them for 54 aircraft. There are 15 sets of these "VR" groups in the database, each assigned to a CVE.
My question is this: Is the database correct and these CVE's are supposed to be carrying 108 airplanes, and therefore there is some trick to using these carriers and their airgroups, or is this an error in the database?

VR squadrons are for replenishment of fleet carrier air groups. Do not, repeat DO NOT, try to use them for anything else. CVE's with VR squadrons are meant to be put into replenishment TF's.

Thank you so much! I'm happy that these units won't be wasted. Is there any documentation on this?

Not in the manual, as far as I could see. It's one of those things you have to pick up; that's what this forum is for...[;)]
