ascara -> Strike Element and CAS (12/19/2001 7:15:00 AM)

I have noticed since updating to v7.0 that I can hardly ever purchase air cover. Is anyone else finding this problem? I know that it is not always available, but it certainly seems to have almost dropped off completely since I updated. Anyone know of a way to fix this in the OOBs maybe?

Some further experimentation shows that I can almost always purchase air support (strike or bombers) as the United States against Japan. As the US against Germany, or playing Germany, I cannot seem to find the option. Once, I think it was as the US versus Italy, I had the button available for strike aircraft, but it would not open to allow me to buy. Any ideas?

On pbem and hotseat games experience so far: I've never been able to get bomber formations only some fighter planes tho this is much cause I use to play on gerries and we don't ever play on early years(1939-1941). My friend has once had b-17 flying fortresses and my tigers got ass whoopin. Those damn things seemed to use radar to find my tanks from middle of forrest under cover and bomb them to thousand pieces meanwhile annihilating all my troops to over 3 hex range! This ofcourse was b4 I red here that nice tip on using trucks as decoys which is really not that realistic either. It seems that on assault and advance missions attacker gets air formations and on meetings that side which historically had air superiority. This can be changed by making air formations available for both countries.

I saw similar results when I was generating battles for PBEM or vs AI. If you don't see air sections available in a battle, try going into the preferences screen and increasing the air sections # from the default (XXXX)... then exit out of SPWAW and restart the game. Sometimes I've had to do this 2-3 times before I was successful. Another tip Paul Vebber mentioned was changing the weather to '1'.
