During the support points allocation portion prior to ANY battle, when I press the mission button the game locks up. Has anyone experienced this before?

Yeah I had that issue what worked for me was to load Spwaw and then hit the windows button th get the desktop and then close the waw menu so that only the game is running and not the menu and that fixed it for me. hope that helps
