This is from the first PBEM game started on these boards.

We have reached an impasse....the files from France cannot load, although the earlier moves files continue to load correctly. Appears to be a bug....when I tried to load them, the program hung.

Erik Rutins -> RE: PBM Fatal Bug+ (7/18/2005 7:21:01 AM)

Please e-mail me the save file that is hanging. E-mail to erikr@matrixgames.com and we'll see if we can find out what's going on.

Regards,

- Erik

Erik:

Should I assume that this is a bug which will require the forthcoming patch to fix, and thus should advise my PBEM group that the game is a no-go for the time being?

I'm waiting for word back from Eric on this, I forwarded him the file for investigation to see if this was a bug or something else.

Thanks....will keep my powder dry in meantime.

Given a common thread with other SAV file problem reports, am guessing that there's an intermittent problem with SAV files from both solo and PBEM play.

I got the save files. I don't seem to have any problems with them. Perhaps you could post them in this area and other people can download them and see if they have problems getting the PBEM password screen?

K...here's a ZIP file which I renamed as a TXT file in order to upload here.

FYI, my problem has been duplicated by others in my PBEM game, so it does not appear to be a local machine/install issue

No go...just loaded CoG on a different machine and have the same problems in loading the PBEM files....both are Win XP Pro with SP2...the latest one is a Tablet PC, the original desktop is an Alienware system
