I'm a little late to the party but leader Inspiration does seem to impact damage control !!!

Though preferred method is to swap out leader BEFORE damage is incurred !!!

I saved Soryu in one game with 70+ sys and 80+ float and 40+ hexes from decent ( target ) port ... but float decreased on the way to port .. I'd never seen that as Japanese .. I looked and her CPT had 70+ Inspiration .. so I figured that had to be a part of the equation ...

I saved Zuikaku in my last PBEM SYS(66)FLT(82).She was 12 hexes from Rabaul (SIZE 8)port,and she made it.

FINAL NOTE: IJN Ryujo entered Sapporo Japan roughly 6 weeks after being crippled. She entered sapporo at a speed of ONE knot with 96 Sys Damage! The sojourn is over. A CVL will live to fight the imperialist Americans again! How 'bout that!

Don't you mean it will live to be sunk by the Americans another day? [:D]

Yes--I predict that she will meet a terrible end in 1943 but that will be AFTER she and her sisters manage to sink the ENTIRE American fleet near Noumea in late-July...
