Can we please have something that tells us immediately when another nation has declared war on us? Time and again, the first I know that I'm at war with a nation is their troops moving into my territory, or my trade routes lost or my merchants being attacked. Obviously, I could just check the diplomacy screen at the beginning of every turn, but surely declaring war should be a much more formal affair. There are all sorts of defence and protection treaties going on between the other powers, but it's never obvious that I'll be attacked.

The diplomatic advisor should pop up to tell me, as he does about treaties, as soon as it happens.

Or am I missing something obvious? [&:]

second that. It's very annoying....
However you als have the sneak attack option. But in the napoleonic era it was normally well known upfront if someone was planning an attack. Ultimatums, troop concentrations, insults etc....

I agree..I mentioned in another post that there should be quite a few announcements made that are not at the moment, such as a province becoming a Protectorate, ect....

AI nations are fond of "surprise attacks".
