Latour_Maubourg -> Venice and their army building bug... (7/20/2005 12:55:50 PM)

The other day while playing France, I beat Austria and had them liberate Veneto as part of their surrender. So far so good. I declared war on them and thought that's lunch....
However after beating their regular army, one cannot siege the city because every turn a militia army of about 40.000 keep's on coming back. I surrounded the province and blockaded the port. Still no luck. After a few years I was totally fed up with it. Mind you Italy and Tuscany don't have this bug. I went back to the savegame just before I declared war and didn't declare war and just waited and watched. To my susprise after 2 years Veneto had an army of about 450.000 (!) soldiers. Not very realistic I guess. I thought they used mercenaries like the Spanish but no. Colonies? maybe but historically Venice's role was in the late 18th century already marginal. and definately not large enough to produce about 40.000 sodiers a month. So maybe something for a future patch?

hmmm that is a strange one, I have never seen it in my games, which one is it that you are having this trouble with (there are two, the other with Zara as the main City)

I do believe in my last game, I had to take over one, before the other would be put under seige for what ever reason

Could you send us a screenshot of the situation, preferably with the Venetian units selected?

I think you can just save to desktop, then when you create a new post, you'll have the option to upload an attachment.

Got a .Zip file here for you, what's your e-mail please? I'm working from a thinkpad due to problems with my normal compu so sending a mail is a bit of a hastle.

I also Included a picture where the Turks form a Protectorate with the Papacy, Which in my opinion was not really possible.

Well, if you can't attach it here, send it to admin@west-civ.com

[:D] I like it! But maybe we should consider making some countries off-limits to certain nations.

I concur. The Turks formed, in my game, all the neutral minors (why they so supported this sick man of Europe btw) in the Mediterranean, for which I had a great incentive in being at war with them.
