The P-38 Shikka.

What's a "Shikka"?[&:]

2Stepper -> RE: Name that Plane XXVII (7/22/2005 2:00:32 AM)

Don't find any record of a "Shikka", but it does look like an XP38 experimental Lightning. Only one "pusher" engine rather then the twin engine design, but overall its a very simlar plane.

As to what it specifically is?!? Haven't a clue! [:D][8D]

Didn't Saab make a plane just like that at the time?

This is what you get when you forget to include the assembly instructions in the crate.

And we have a WINNER! Treespider gets the cookie! The XP-54 was Consolidated-Vultee's attempt to live up to a USAAF fighter specification. Flew in 1943, failed utterly to meet the standards, and was rapidly discontinued.

Maybe I need to start keeping track of the pictures I use. I think I've already used the one Treespider posted. Sheesh, getting old... (where's that smiley with the long, white beard?)
