kafka -> detailed battle bug (7/27/2005 2:14:56 PM)

Playing the standard campaign as France. Yesterday I came upon the following bug: A russian army walks across Spain heading to the south of France. I send an army to engage them. Both armies meet south of France. I choose the detailed battle mode. The battle evolves favorably. The russians start to become disordered. As most of their units are in disorder state, a window pops up stating that my forces are beginning to waver. This window is immediately followed by another one stating the same for the russians. This goes for a while, windows popping once a while telling the same for both sides. Then exactly when the russians start to route, a window appears telling me that my forces are falling into chaos. So the field shows both armies in a state of general routing. The next window to pop up is a MFC application error window giving a radical end to this game. I reloaded and tried again: The same situation occurs: Both armies engage south of france. The battle evolves more or less the same (since my forces are superior to theirs) and at the time when the russians start to get disordered, exactly the same happens. A window pops up stating that my forces are beginning to waver. The same for the russians. This results in the MFC error window as before. I reloaded and tried once again. Same results. So, I decided to choose the quick combat, no other way left. Very annoying as this was as I mostly enjoy the tactical part of the game. Anyway, this annoying procedure was to occur one turn later again. This time a small russian army met an army of mine north of Italy. Exactly the same happened. Here, I gave up. I checked the moral status of my units before and did not notice any dramatical moral decline which maybe would explain all this. By the way, why are so many single cossacks units walking overall France. Is this historical? And, a final question concerning detailed battles: Why are my supplies placed so often very next to enemy units?
