Simple question: what scenario do you like to play? This is not meant to be a poll, just want to hear WHY a scenario is special to you. Name as many as you like.

I like 'Thunder at the Banya Pass'. Hungarians with inferior tanks are setting up an ambush against roaming Red Tanks. I bit my nails while playing that one.

Another item is Staudegger's Run. It's really fun to command one real good tank and dominate the battlefield.

They're not part of the "stock" scenario list, but I like Bill Wilder's Korea scenarios. Not just because I helped to test some of them, but because they're really atmospheric and give a good idea of just how scary those first months of that war must have been.

I don't know about these "stock" lists, but if a scenario is widely circulated and is available I think there's no problem in referring to it. I've probably played just one Korea scenario to date and really need to change proper flags to enjoy them. I loved Korea Campaign in SP2 and perhaps in future this cold war era will be even a larger issue in my gaming.

I'm not surprised if Americans play Normandy scenarios several times. It's reliving the history of the forefathers. It is also an important matter that these important historical battles are created by the best scenario designers.

I have not played SPWAW Normandy scenarios yet, because they are very large ones and they cannot be conducted single handedly. It requires time to concentrate on those.

The last time this question was asked I answered the same way. I prefer and almost always play user-designed campaigns. And my favorite of those is probably Wild Bill's "Flesh and Steel" because it is short, sweet and difficult as well as a good object lesson on the effectiveness of combined arms.

I also like Flashfyre's "Raiders of the Sahara" campaign. Very challenging, and you have to learn to play with light vehicles and a minimal amount of artillery.

I found that 'Raiders of the Sahara' very difficult. I played the first battle and I have really not mch to tell about it.

I've never played the "long long road to victory" only because I know it consists of three other campaigns (preparing the way, utah to the rhine, and the victors) and it would take me forever to finish it. I tend to favor small, quick battles that I can finish within a few days playing a few turns a day. If I were to do the long long road, I would still be playing it next year. I own the General's Edition of SPWAW and haven't done more with it than look at the first few scenarios of a few of the MCs.

I love the "Italians at War!" It is one of my other favorites because I enjoy playing the Italians, which is why I didn't include it in my earlier list, because most other folks aren't big fans of the Italians. It's a good play, nonetheless.

I'm glad you've tried that one. The first battle is difficult. I had to replay it two or three times before I was able to score anything better than a draw. Playing the LRDG is a different experience than the smashmouth experience of playing with lots of armor--which is why I think it is so good. After you master the first battle, the other battles are easier to play. Great campaign by Flash.

"Long long road to Victory" is kinda cool item, because I like it as big. When you see your troops getting more experience the real 'heroes' raise among them. And it's getting even more exciting when the war is nearing the end. When the last mission is over, you will count those leaders that were with you in the first battle. And it's sad if there's only one or two left.

I'll try that 'Raiders of the Sahara' someday again. Special force campaigns are a good idea. At the depot there was also a neat little campaign with Brits commandoes and I was more succesful with that.

I assume the commando campaign was M4Jess's? Also, have you tried out campaign watcher? It makes tracking your troops over the course of a campaign *much* easier. If you haven't downloaded it and tried it out, I suggest you try it, because it really enhances your ability to follow the progress of your troops over the course of a campaign.

The commando campaign is really excellent. The best light infantry campaign I'd played until Screaming Eagles.

Campaign watcher? I haven't even heard of it. I start to look for it. For me a campaign is a mixture of strategy and role-playing game.

Yes it's really fun to play. Just yesterday Finnish television broadcast two great war films: Windstalkers and the Bridge Over River Kwai. Both almost at the same time. I just though that the commando campaign should have had one more special mission: to blow that Bridge and save Col. Nicholson (unless he wanted to protect that bridge and fight at the Japannese side).

Let me know if you have trouble finding it. I believe it is available over at the File Depot on Wargamer and I'm pretty sure you can find it on SPWAW Depot if you do a search. I can email you a copy if those don't work out. I think you'll find that CW enhances the role-playing aspect of the game.

Some folks at the Depot were commenting on the intermittant trouble that the Depot has been having with connections. Maybe Goblin could speak more specifically if he sees this?

In the meantime, try again, Puukkoo. It should work.

Yes. There are two 'depots'. The one with scenarios and the one with SPWAW forums and such. Always learning something new.

Sorry I wasn't clearer on that. The SPWAW Depot is the one with the discussion, the Games Depot is the one with the scenarios. However, Campaign Watcher is located at the SPWAW Depot--the link I gave to you earlier. Hope this helps.
