Gun Nut -> Bergmann MP18 SMG (8/21/2005 12:09:50 AM)

Is there a reason why 7.1 and H2H have it sound like semi-automatic gun fire, when shooting with it? hopefully they changed it in the later versions. Hmm anyone know how to change it or get a new sound file for it?

Alby -> RE: Bergmann MP18 SMG (8/21/2005 1:03:20 AM)

You can change it to whatever sound you like

if you look in the Editor and find that weapon, it will give you a sound file number...just find it and replace it with whatever you like....be advised, There will be three sounds that are actually used...each weapon uses three sounds, all will be next to each other.
for instance 200,201, 202....etc etc...

Thank you very much. [:)]

Gun Nut, Alby has provided some excellent alternative SND files for various tank guns and artillery -- these are all part of his Multi-Mod, which is hosted at the Depot.

gunnut just to answer ur question....H2Hfr was originally designed for ver 7.1 therefore both sounds should be alike[:D]......just a little history....[;)][8D]

I thought that Bergmans are just slow Mp's. Early Finns have those and it's clearly inferior to Suomi SMG.

Well it had a rate of fire of abot 500 rounds per minute.

"The original MP18 was designed to use the Snail drum magazine that was designed for use in the long barreled Luger Artillery model pistol. This rotary design type of magazine holds 32 rounds of 9mm ammunition and the user would have to load the magazine with a separate, and unique loading tool. As the snail drum magazine was originally designed for the Luger pistol, a special sleeve was required when the Snail drum was used on the MP18. This sleeve was slipped over the top part of the magazine and was used to stop the Snail drum from being inserted too far into the receiver and jam the firearm when it was fired. Later modifications to the MP18 allowed the use of a staggered box type magazine as used in the later developed MP40 sub-machine gun. The MP18 could only fire in the fully automatic mode, while the later developed MP28.II was designed to allow the user to select single shot or fully automatic fire modes.

"The KP/-31 was the accuracy standard to which other sub-machine guns of the time were compared. attachment contains two targets shot during official Army weapon acceptance tests from 100 meters' distance. Left target: 15 rounds of semi-auto shots from bench rest. Right target: 50 rounds of full auto shots as a single long burst from bench rest."

Wow, Gun Nut! I don't have to ask why you got that name.

That relation to Luger pistol explains why some nations call the weapon 'Machine Pistol'. Finnish defense Guards (Suojeluskunta) bought some 4000 pieces of Bergman MP's and they saw use in the Winter War.

Gun Nut -> RE: Bergmann MP18 SMG (8/21/2005 8:41:34 PM)

Hey in my opinion firearms and equipment play a large part in who wins which battles haha. [:D]

Puukkoo -> RE: Bergmann MP18 SMG (8/21/2005 8:49:18 PM)

[:D]

Well, they tend to have a considerable part. No doubt about that.

While playing Japannese Long campaign I encountered this.

Jap Bergmann SMG's sound like rifles, but Japannesese Riflex5 units sound like SMG's. Just thought could this refer to a wrong placed sound files?

Hmm--in the Japanese OOB, the Bergmann SMG is weapon 003, classed as Prime Infantry, with a generic sound of 0. Weapon 243 is the Type99 Rifle x5, classed as Secondary Infantry, also with the generic sound of 0.

The problem is that many infantry weapons have specific sounds attached to them, which override the generic sounds. Prime Infantry weapons are by default given the generic rifle sound, whereas Secondary Weapons are generally LMGs.

So, here's what you do -- give all SMGs without specific sounds number 408, and bolt-action rifles either 399 or 402. 402 is for multiple rifles.

Puukkoo -> RE: Bergmann MP18 SMG (10/18/2005 11:28:55 AM)

Thanks for the information. I was not sure how it was intended to be, but at least I get the MP's sound little more what they're expected to be.

The fast firing sound of riflex5 suits well into this description by Gun Nut:
