baevans99 -> Long Campaign Damage (8/21/2005 9:19:10 AM)

I am playing the Long Campaign using SPWaW 8.4

After a while I started noticing that my tanks are starting battles missing some of their secondary weapons (CMG, BMG, etc.). For example the PzKpfw-IIIh should have two machine guns in addition to the 5cm L/42 main gun. Some of my PzKpfw-IIIh are missing one or the other machine gun, and I even have one that is missing BOTH machine guns.

I have tried clicking Fix All and individually clicking Fix on every unit between battles. This does not help repair the weapons.

I have also tried WAW ED on the savegame file. When I view the unit it lists all the weapons the tank should normally have. I can change the weapons around, but when I load the game my machine guns are still missing.

This is what I tried in WAW ED:
File - Locate OOB Files
File - Load WAW Scen/Save File
Unit Data
Click on Weapon I want to change
Click on Weapon I want from pop up box (tried using same or different types of CMG, BMG, MMG, etc.
Click Select
Click Retain
File - Save WAW Scen/Save File

All my units have Zero damage but the tanks are still missing some machine guns. In fact none of my weapon changes appear when I enter the battle. I haven't tried changing any other stats yet.

I am running out of ideas other than rebuying every tank that is affected. Any suggestions?

This is more a subject for the boys at the technical department, but I have heard that the game might have some bugs when playing long campaign as Germans. Hope someone will soon fix that one too.

Actually, after ever battle you need to hit the Fix all button. Any weapon disabled by the game, because of malfunction or enemy action will NOT be fixed in the next battle unless you individually fix that vehicle or hit fix all to ensure all are repraired.

Thanks for the heads up - never noticed that a vehicle would have guns knocked out and not have it show damage on the repair screen.

Learn something new every day around here.

baevans99 did mention that he had clicked Fix All button. I have not played the long campaign as Germans since ver 8.0 and I don't know what this problem is. My tanks were anyway repaired, but I lost only Pz II's to Polish arms. Dunno...

Been playing germans from 8.3 and updated to 8.4 ( I believe I started on 8.3 anyway) I am in February 1943 and have not seen this problem. I am the Germans. Of course my tanks upgrade as noticably better ones come along.

I did not upgrade from PZ III H except leader section and one platoon to Js's. I did not go to PZ IVF2(s) . My force now consists of 3 companies of Tanks ( Hqs section Tiger) one platoon tiger, 3 platoon PZIV ( I think G).

I will watch for this condition.

Sorry about the delay in replying, work got a little hairy this week.

I am pretty sure I clicked the Fix All button but it is possible I forget after one of my battles. I will assume that is the problem and see if any other units down the line have this problem.

I usually have a lot of "old" tanks in my force because I generally only upgrade a tank if it was destroyed. These tanks have probably been with me for a few battles.

I appreciate your advice.
