Can anyone elaborate on effect of weather in the game?

With advanced weather toggled on, I see these forcast ...from best to worst?

C ... Clear
P ... Partly Cloudy
O... Overcast
R ... Rain
T ... Thunderstorms?
B ... Blizzard?

Do these forcasts mean anything? What do they effect?

The weather section in the manual specifies the effects of the weather zones, but doesn't say much about the effects of weather types.

a. Weather does not have "seasons". So it's not like during the summer months, that there is a greater chance of t-storms or whatever.
b. Appearntly, the prior turn's weather has some bearing on the likely-hood of the current turns weather. So if it's t-storms last turn, there are better chances that it will remain t-storms or o-cast. Not as likely to be clear.
c. Remember, that weather is for each zone on the map. You can have t-storms in one zone, and clear in the adjacent zone.
d. Weather mostly affects aircraft. Worse weather means more ops losses, and more difficulty finding targets (they may not even fly, in case of t-storms).
e. Weather affects how easy you are to spot.
f. Weather affects the chances of two surface groups finding each other (and engaging).

Dumb question: the weather indicators - one on top of the main screen, one with large letters when 3 is pressed, and one in base info screen (by the Temperate/Malaria/Cold Zone sign) - do they indicate current weather, or next turn's weather?
What will it affect? Immidiate base-to-base plane transfer, resolution phase air ops or both?

In UV, the variable weather was meant to stay within one level of the previous day's weather 80%ish of the time. So if you have partly cloudy- then the next turn's weather should be clear, partly cloudy, or overcast. The other 20% was a two point swing. I don't know if this has been carried forwards into WitP.

My understanding is that when you hit the '3' key you get the weather forcast for the day you are currently giving orders for.

I wish that there was another key to see the last turn's weather because that would help figure out what happened with missions cancelled and the like.
