Sharkosaurus rex -> What is the cost for repairing ships? (8/26/2005 5:56:36 AM)

Is there any supply/HI costs for repairing ships? I haven't been able to find any info on it. Do the repair yards use supply points/HI to generate their points or once the repair yard is fixed, they don't consume expendibles any longer? Do ships repairing in a harbour use any supply/HI too if no repair yards are present? maybe a cost fixed to the durabilit? I have suspected in the past that they must use something- but I'm hoping to find out if it is true. (There aren't many thing for free in WitP). Or does repairing a ship just use time and repair yard points if present? (the most precious commodity)

Thanks in advance.

I believe I remember reading that repairing ships used supply as well. If true, no idea how much.

I think they might but i cant be sure. Either way as Japan i always turn all repair yards off except for Tokyo, Osaka, Singapore, and Hiroshima. That cuts down on supply and HI use a little bit i guess

Repair yards only save up 4xturns so don;t go overspending.

I suspect a repair yard point might cost 3xHI- because that is the same cost as both naval and mechant construction yard costs. I just don't know for sure. I was wondering if anyone else knew.

Ta.

I would expect if there is a cost, then once the repair yard has stored up its 4x amount, that cost should cease correct? If it is different, someone please say so! I would hate to have these repair yards sucking HI/supply whatever, when the RP pool in that port is already maxed.

Almost positive that repair in general and repair yard points in particular are free. I have burned scads of them and I still have a huge surplus of HI. I know for sure they do not burn supply. If they do have a cost, whatever it is is negligible.

Hong Kong and Singapore also have nice repair yards.

Yeah, due to distances I like to upgrade Hong Kong a bit. Pretty much immediately after I take it.

Was there never any repair facilities in Manila? For some reason I had assumed there were some there before I got this game...now I not sure.

No repair in Manila, even after the war the US navy moved in a floating dry dock for Subic Bay, you should have heard the Philippines howl when the US Navy left Subic and took the dry dock. They were actually pissed the US had the audacity to take its equipment and ships when it was forced to leave.

Being married to a filipino and haveing spent time in the Marine Corps I know a few things ( not a lot) about the PI. The Filipinos are an interesting people. You can get a bit of a laugh from them if you watch their news.
