Searching for something completely different I came across this page: Link: CALL, the Center for Army Lessons Learned.

Actually looking for some AAR/Lessons Learned from the Iraq I 'discovered' that their archive contains a lot of documents, e.g. a translation of a book from 1926 about the battle of Tannenberg, but also about the Civil War, or the Austro-Italian war [X(]

You have to go Archives - Public Archives - CALL Public Archives

I bet some of will find some real interesting stuff over there [;)]

One interesting article is a description of the trip of the Americal Division from JAN. 23, 1942 TO JUNE 30, 1943.

Unfortunatly I can't link directly, so you have to go to
Center for Army Lessons Learned Public Archives - Filerooms - Military History Institute - 1939-1945, WORLD WAR II - PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS - NARRATIVE HISTORY OF TF 6814 AND AMERICAL DIVISION ...

Another interesting one, for those planning the invasion of Japan:

“DOWNFALL” - Strategic Plan for Operation in the Japanese Archipelago (28 May 1945), covering Olympic and Coronet Operations.

... 1939-1945, WORLD WAR II - US ARMY FORCES PACIFIC - GENERAL HEADQUARTERS - DOWNFALL -- STRATEGIC PLAN ...
