Stwa -> UV -deepColor Mode (9/4/2005 10:10:46 AM)

Does UV have a -deepColor switch, like WitP?

man, this forum is on fire .... [>:]

The trouble is UV is nearly five years old now so 99% of players have moved on to WITP, although there are still a few diehards who post now and again....[&o]

I think you are right for sure, but the WitP and WPO forums aren't that hoppin either, so its starting to like like people have moved on from them to somewhere else, too. [8D]

As anyone answered the original question????

Deepcolour mode is a WITP enhancement only (introduced about V1.40 I think).

I don't mind UV and still play it. It's simplier, runs OK on older machines and I find it more enjoyable for the South Pacific theatre rather than the WITP limited area scenario. UV doesn't have some features but this isn't such a killer for the smaller scenarios.

I could not agree more with these comments by Reg. I purchased both products (UV and WitP) at the same time (last August) and UV is more fun for the South Pacific. That is why I decided to "import" graphics from WitP to UV.

Also, its kind of a shame the community seems so small for this game at least, because now that its at v 2.41 and looks pretty stable, new theaters could be a distinct possiblity, again borrowing from WitP if necessary.

Use 32 bit graphics instead of 16 bit.
You'll see a change. That's about as far as you can take it.

There are some old map replacements on Spooky's website.
If they're still there.[;)]

I just ran a thread about the capabilities and weaknesses of the UV Editor, unfortunately the editor lacks the flexability to mod UV to other theatres - had me a bit perplexed too because I was thinking of trying just that with UV myself.
