When I play the Allied side, clicking the Signal Intelligence icon will sometimes will sometimes provide me some useful nuggets of information.

When I play the Japanese side it never provides any useful info.

Is it broken?

esteban -> RE: SigInt? (9/20/2005 9:06:36 PM)

Nope, sigint is designed to show that the Allies had some insight into Japanese operations through their breaking of the Japanese codes, but that the Japanese had almost no such insight into Allied operations. I still check sigint as the Japanese, it helps uncover the occasional task force or submarine, but you rarely get really good information from it.

Check bases that are tagged with 'Radio Trasmissions Detected at'.
Sometimes you can see the ground/airfield/or port assets at these bases, just as if you had done recon...

Wow, I didn't realize this. Will start watching more closely. I had up to now mainly been looking for radio signals in the ocean as a giveaway for subs/TFs.

Well I play as the Allied and sometimes i get "Radio signals detected" in places like Vancouver, S.Francisco ... [8|]
Does it means that this is not just a movie? [:)]

Holey Bermuda Shorts! Just smack me right upside the head![X(] Can this be true?![&o]

Gem35 -> RE: SigInt? (9/21/2005 4:21:20 AM)

It's Jap propaganda, sorta reminds me of that scene from Saving Private Ryan... " The Statue of Liberty is Kaput!"

BLurking -> RE: SigInt? (9/21/2005 4:34:28 AM)

Not propaganda - in just my last turn in a PBEM as Japanese:

Signals detected at S.F. - and I could see 37 ground units at the base
Signals detected at Seattle - and I could see 2 AK & 2 CA at port

Don't get these results every time - but I do check once in a while.

Obviously I don't have any recon units near these bases - so it must be SIGINT...

Actually, the game models HUMINT (human intelligence, aka SPIES) also. Not only real spies, but you can get info through neutral embassies/consuls. IRL, info passed through the Portuguese and Spanish (both ways).

That discussion was about recon. The poster here has suggested that sig intel gives some information other than what is there in the report if you hold your mouse over the island in question. I've done this and no result.

FeurerKrieg -> RE: SigInt? (9/22/2005 4:06:11 AM)

Right, but someone asked about recon, so thus a link was made to the recon thread.
