Fafner -> Missing Bull Halsey (9/23/2005 11:01:31 PM)

I'm playing a campaign starting Dec 7.

I just realized, Admiral Halsey is nowhere to be found. Can't make him a TF commander, nor head of South Pacific.

I have lost no carriers so I'm assuming he wasn't KIA.

Does he not show up till later?

What is the game date?...

I think Halsey starts as one of your CV TF's CO.

Yamato hugger -> RE: Missing Bull Halsey (9/23/2005 11:18:01 PM)

Leader bug. well known and been around forever. I had Halsey in command of a 2 CV group and next thing I knew some Jap 2nd Lt was in command of the carriers. No Halsey in sight.

Its one of my 2 pet pevs about this game.

He should start in command of the CV Enterprise IIRC

Fafner -> RE: Missing Bull Halsey (9/24/2005 1:41:41 AM)

Yep, 2nd Lt. Kira is now the commander of the Enterprise.

Hmm....

Can I assume I've lost him for the rest of the campaign?

I killed the last game cause I lost 2 Corp HQs and HQ for Southwest Pacific (including Douglass McArthur) while air transporting them.

These bugs are really annoying.

Is there anyway to get back Halsey?

patrickl -> RE: Missing Bull Halsey (9/24/2005 1:52:26 AM)

Hi,

Chance is Practically zero. Restart game.[;)]

durnedwolf -> RE: Missing Bull Halsey (9/24/2005 5:44:35 PM)

Actually, try going back 3 turns from when you last had Halsey and restart from there. It worked for me in a previous game...

I say give Lt Kira a chance. If he's any good you can promote him to CinC SoPac. [:)]

That is what I meant[:D] or did I say restart game? Oh, I was thinking the date he lost Halsey to be 7 Dec 41. Under 1.6 I always appoint Halsey - as SoPac Commander bulletproofed against kidnap by aliens - as soon as his tf touch base - at around 9 Dec 41. Sure don't want my best naval leader to disappear.[;)]

Fafner -> RE: Missing Bull Halsey (9/26/2005 6:59:18 PM)

I'm a Spruance fan so its been a while since I went looking for the Bull.

I'm in the middle of 1942 so its too late. 2nd Lt Kira (I'm assuming hes Japanese air force, not naval) has impressive air stats ;-)

I guess Ghormley gets to say on as C of SoPac.

BTW - is there a list somewhere with commanders with good air ratings so I don't have to click on every single commander to figure out who is good for what?

ladner -> RE: Missing Bull Halsey (9/27/2005 5:01:10 AM)

I just noticed that my campaign game has been sabatoged by this same bug. I have lost all of the good American CV CAPTs, no more F. Sherman, G.D. Murray, or D. Ramsey, instead I have no-names with stats like 27/32 or worse. The real kicker is that there are few if any leaders capable of commanding CVs. I have no idea if this no-name leaders will result in my having lousy CV strikes, I am afraid now to even fight my first CV battle in 5/1942 and this is after going thru the full SRA/Phillipines/Malaya beat down by the AI IJN/IJA *sigh*.

Hi,

You could try Caltone's worksheet at Spooky's website :

http://mathubert.free.fr/witp_files/LeadersXL.zip

Look s like patch v1.602 is the way to go tominimise these leader problems.
Cheers!

How will the spreadsheet help. I notice you can get a feel for who is competent, but it does not seem like an editor. I hope this post does not come across the wrong way, I am grateful for your help though. I am just frustrated by what has happened.

Bodhi -> RE: Missing Bull Halsey (9/27/2005 7:54:49 AM)

No way to get those leaders back unfortunately, not even with Caltone's worksheet. Once the bug has hit and the leaders have gone, they're gone for good I'm afraid.

Fafner -> RE: Missing Bull Halsey (9/28/2005 9:43:27 PM)

The Wasp is commanded by a Japanese WO. Has 72 air skill.

All right!
