Walewander -> Run-time error 429 (10/7/2005 4:52:29 PM)

When I click PLAY on the Game Menu for Gold Edition, I'm getting an error that reads like this

Run time error 429: ActiveX cannot create something or other...

Any ideas?

That's usually a windows component issue. I would do the following:

1. Reboot
2. Reinstall PureSim
3. One more reboot

Then try again. What Operating system are you running?

Also, make sure you are up to date with all your Windows updates.

Shaun,

Thanks for the quick reply. It worked. You rock. By the way, I think the fact that I just uninstalled Microsoft Office could have been related to the problem. For future reference, I am using Windows XP.

Glad you are up and running! Thanks for letting me know.

I get the same "runtime error 429" message when I try to run Gold Edition. I have rebooted, re-installed PureSim, and rebooted again, and the problem persists. I'm running Windows XP Home, SP2. Any suggestions?

Make sure you have the latest Windows updates installed also try reinstalling with antivirus disabled. And reboot one more time.

If that doesn't work download this version of the game executable, unzip it, and copy it over your existing one (in the c:\Matrix Games\PureSim Baseball 2005 Gold Edition folder). It will capture the error and give you the option to mail a detailed error report to me to diagnose what is not configured or installed on your system.

Just reinstalling PureSim on top of the original installation didn't work. However, when I uninstalled the program first, then re-installed it, the "run-time error" problem went away.

Yes, 2005 Gold Edition is not intended to be installed on top of a previous installation. Glad the reinstallation worked for you.

Regards,

- Erik
