Marsh511 -> Install GOLD over RC or old versions? (10/8/2005 8:49:15 AM)

Over the months, I've gotten comfortable with installing each release over my existing game files (instead of uninstalling and re-installing from scratch). Can I do this with the downloaded GOLD version? I have Shaun's Gold RC1 currently installed. Also, will the GOLD version update all of my existing associations (like each of the prior versions has done)?

Thanks,
Marshall

That's the way I did it.

Curiously, that did not happen.

Yes that will all work fine.

There was one important change though... The Matrix installation installs to a different folder than the previous versions use to. So, in order to play with your previous associations you'll need to copy them into the new location. Assuming you installed both versions to their default locations:

copy all the files from
c:\Program Files\PureSim 2005\psa
into
c:\Matrix Games\PureSim Baseball 2005 Gold Edition\psa

This will move all your associations over and you'll be able to open them in the new version. They are 100% compatible.

I found that I liked having the clean install, and the associations move easily.

OK, so are you saying that a Release Candidate version (or earlier) can co-exist on the same PC with the Matrix Gold version...if they're installed to different folders?

I'm a packrat -- I like keeping older versions for a while (don't ask me why; it's 10% to have a safety net/backup, but 90% just my packrat personality!).

THanks,
Marshall
