larryfulkerson -> What's your monitor size? (10/17/2005 10:24:22 PM)

Hey you guys....I'm developing the Scenario Designer Thingie for TOAW scenarios and I've run across a problemo. I need to know what size the picture is for most of the gamers out there. I'm using 1024 by 768 myself but that may or may not be the most popular size. So I guess I need a poll or something to know what size to use for this thing.

the choices are:
800 X 600
1024 X 768
1152 X 864
1280 X 720
1280 X 768
1280 X 960

so....um........who do I talk to for a poll here at Matrix Games? David? Erik? or ???

I'm on a 17" - 1024x768 resoloution

Nemo69 -> RE: What's your monitor size? (10/17/2005 10:40:11 PM)

Is a fixed size compulsory or wouldn't it be better if it were scalable, i.e. adapted to any display resolution?

Bear in mind I'm a programming gross ignoramus so take this with the proverbial grain of salt [;)]

OOOOooooo I like that idea a lot. That's a good idea. I'll do that instead of making it a fixed size. thanks .

Pippin -> RE: What's your monitor size? (10/17/2005 11:15:51 PM)

When I first had TOAW my monitor resolution was 600x. That really sucked because half my options were not on the screen so I was puzzled. I did get up to 800x, what a difference(I could see all the options then!). I'm on 1024 now and do not want to go any higher. Even on my 19 inch monitor, I don't want to have to read even SMALLER font.

Hertston -> RE: What's your monitor size? (10/17/2005 11:37:24 PM)

1280x1064.

Don't understand why that isn't a 'choice'... its a lot more common than 1152x864 or 1280x720.

The scaling idea sounds good, though.

lancerunolfsson -> RE: What's your monitor size? (10/17/2005 11:47:58 PM)

Yeah scaling is the way to go

pvthudson01 -> RE: What's your monitor size? (10/18/2005 12:11:28 AM)

1280 960 resolution on 19" lcd flat panel

steveh11Matrix -> RE: What's your monitor size? (10/18/2005 1:24:24 AM)

Two machines, both standard 15" monitors.

One graphics card can go to 1280x1024, the other's limited to 1024x768.

Scaling is definitely the way!

Steve.

Fascist. I use 1152x864...

All a bit of a moot point if Larry goes scaleable.

EDIT: scratch that. Just maxed out my display settings. I expect to have gone blind in about ten minutes.

Mantis -> RE: What's your monitor size? (10/18/2005 1:41:19 AM)

Scaleable, Larry. 1280 * 1024, btw. Higher, when I get my new monitor.

Halsey -> RE: What's your monitor size? (10/18/2005 1:45:37 AM)

21" Sony flatscreen.
1024x768

No problem with fonts at this level.[;)]

danst31 -> RE: What's your monitor size? (10/18/2005 3:44:58 AM)

1600x1200 17". the 21" 2048x1536 is looking to be my xmas gift to myself.

ragtopcars_slith -> RE: What's your monitor size? (10/18/2005 5:20:19 AM)

holy blocky pixels.

ragtopcars_slith -> RE: What's your monitor size? (10/18/2005 6:43:44 AM)

Dan, believe me when i say it looks good! [:D]
you don't have to squint to read what's on the damn monitor...
as a side note, i also run two samsung 191T 19" flatpanels so i can keep track of stocks while gaming or surfing![;)]

derek

I still shudder at the thought, my 19" work lcd borders on intolerable at 1280x1024, pixels twice as big. *bleck*

Crimguy -> RE: What's your monitor size? (10/18/2005 7:12:58 AM)

1680x1050. Dell 2005FPW. Best bargain on the net. Can be had for <$400 on ebay if you have patience.

I am all about scalable interfaces. I play WitP and it drives me nuts having the black bars on each side of the display.

Jeremy Mac Donald -> RE: What's your monitor size? (10/18/2005 7:40:18 AM)

1024 X 768 on a 19 inch big boxy thing.

Iņaki Harrizabalagatar -> RE: What's your monitor size? (10/18/2005 9:41:15 AM)

17" monitor, 1024x768, however in scenarios with very large maps I prefer 1280x960 as to be more aware of the strategic situation
