werwolf -> CWiF rules (10/18/2005 11:17:33 AM)

I am an Historian and I am living in Europe. I tried the Beta version of WiF developed by Crhis Marinacci and I am waiting for the official release of this wonderful game. Just few days ago during a debate with some collegue of mine we were discussing how England and France declared war to Germany after this latter attacked Poland in September 1939. But why they do not declared war to U.R.S.S. that in those days was attacking Poland from east? Now I thought why do not to permit things like these in the new CWiF? I mean why do not permit England to declar war to U.R.S.S. or eventually U.S.A., or anything like this with major power?

You need to play Days of Decision III, either coupled to WiF FE or not, to allow for such experiences. Days of Decision III allow for 3 sided play, Allies, Axis and Communists, and for wild alliances.

I expect the English or French players could DoW the Soviet Union anyhow (not sure US entry costs for that case exist right now). But I don't quite see why they'd do it gamewise (in the real war it would have been a major disaster). It definitelly should lead to a very low likelyhood of US intervention later in the war (not directly due to the DoW on Soviet Union, but more because it'd obviously be one hell of a mess the US would not want to get involved in).

Both historically and gamewise, the Soviet occupations of Western Ukraine, Western Belorus, parts of Karelia, Besserabia (Moldavia) and the three Baltic States were an advantage for the Western Allies during WWII (not in the cold war obviously).
