quick question for japanese players: what ships do Glens fly from? I know they are float planes. Are they CA's or CS's?

Japs start the game with 8 or 9 boats that carry glens. Most start near Pearl Harbor. There is 1 that starts near the Fijis. They get about a half dozen more in 2-4 months.

Edit I should say in scen 16 they start near PH

All of the reinforcement subs that cost 33 or 36 points per day carry Glens.

Hey, cool translation. I recognize "sui" to be water so it makes sense that suijo has something to do with water. I long since edited away the Allied code names from my scnearios but I don't think "rei-Shiki-Kogata-Suijo-Teisatsuki" will fit in the number of letters allowed for plane names. Too bad we can't use kanji in the game. In that case, I'm pretty sure it would fit nicely.

You can call "Suijo Teisatsuki" to "Sui Tei".
Suijo means "above water"

The Kanji changes the meaning by the combination.
Even the Japanese of the Kanji is difficult.

The Glen only flies from submarines. It is the second generation Japanese submarine borne observation aircraft. It also has the unique combat distinction as the ONLY Axis aircraft type to bomb the mainland of North America. [A warrant officer named Fujita - no relation to the captain of the same name leading the Pearl Harbor attack - made two runs over Oregon forests with small incendiary bombs. On that voyage he concieved the submarine aircraft carrier with true bombers, and two versions of it were built - see I-400 and I-12.] The Glen could only operate from near perfect seas - I think WITP does not restrict it enough - and many could not successfully return to their launch submarine (although, clearly, WO Fujita could). They did do some useful recon from North America to Africa, and they did get pre and post strike photographs of Pearl Harbor in December 1941.

They also recce'd Melbourne, Sydney & other Australian Ports.
