I have a suggestion based on some real-life observations, whether or not it adds to the "realism" of the game is up to you. There should be a chance (albeit a small one) that artillery fire impacting in a minefield hex could detonate a percentage of the emplaced mines due to direct hits/sympathetic detonation. Granted, this wouldn't be as effective as an engineer-placed bangalore torpedo, Snake, or similar line breaching system, but it is entirely possible (and from a historical standpoint, accurate). ------------------ alea iacta est sooperduk@hotmail.com [This message has been edited by Elvis (edited 07-03-2000).]

Try it - heavy artillery DOES detonate mines...

What exactly is considered "heavy" artillery? From what I have seen so far, a 105mm round won't. I am at work right now and can't experiment, just some observations from a couple of games I played last night. ------------------ alea iacta est sooperduk@hotmail.com

Will it also knock down wire?

It does detonate mines, even tank "z" fire can detonate mines, but it takes a **lot** of artillery or z-fire to do it! Just be patient, have a ***great*** artillery forward observer so the rounds come down accurately, and pound the hex repeatedly.

Yes it will take down wire and dragons teeth. But as stated before it takes alot. Which is another reason I'd like to see either more ammo for the off board arty or an option, for more cost of course, to have unlimited ammo. I for one miss having it on board very much. Artillery duals were fun and I could nest them around ammo dumps or trucks. ------------------ Good hunting, Pack Rat
