Little bug on SP: WaW 2.3?

I have discovered that when infantry is retreating and firing smoke, those units are allways running to: west-south if playing on left side and to east-south if playing on right side of map. Tanks are usually retreating straight backwards and downwards but never seen that none unit has retreated to east-north or west-north. Bug or something?
