BLurking -> Is there a reason... (11/9/2005 5:38:13 AM)

For Japan to continue merchant shipbuilding past a certain point? I've reached mid '43 and my opponent hasn't sunk a great deal of my merchants. I don't see any reason not to halt any further merchant construction, since these will only be potential points for him to sink in port later on next year.

Or am I missing something?

I halt all AKs from the start - I've never reached a point in any game where I don't have hundreds of AK sitting around doing nothing. Same for AP.
( technically you can't halt the ones that are too far out - so you have to go back in periodically and do a "halting" exercise - once a month is probably enough )

Now TK and AO different story - I try to accelerate all of those that are farther out than say 1 year - all my tankers are always busy - none of them sitting around.

As to AUX types ... I halt a few ... accelerate a few .. leave most of them as is .. all depending on the needs of the moment. Getting a few AR out quickly is a pretty good idea regardless.
