jdew -> Logos - a little different from the ordinary (11/10/2005 2:18:35 AM)

I'm playing around with logos based on jerseys for Puresim. I've done a few and I think they are looking ok; rather small, sometimes a bit plain but usable I think.

Questions are ... do they look interesting/usable enough to you for me to continue with and make available and if so are there any particular eras you'd be most interested in using?

Speaking of the size of logos, what size in optimum for puresim?

Thanks for the replies!

I'll be getting them together and making them available

Any feelings on which eras/years/decades you'd like to see first? Current, 70's, 80's, "Golden Era".....

80x80, gif format seems to be it. I used that for the cap logos set (available at BaseballSimCentral, Puresim section) and they work fine.

jdew, I'm looking forward to these -- I loved those cap logos, which covered the entire history of MLB [&o].

So, my obvious preference would be to do the same (if possible) for the jerseys. To narrow it down, I'd like the 1946-60 era to be covered. This one is pretty popular for real-player gamers. (Well, at least for me and a couple of other guys [:D] )

jdew, although i play in the 80's era I perfer the earlier era logos & uniforms cause those are almost always superior. Most logos today look like they were thought up by advertising companies.

Great logos.
I would use them.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

KG Erwin, thanks! I think the cap logos fit really well in Puresim (if you pardon the pun).... helps to create a visual feel for a past era, just like using pictures of Forbes and Ebbets instead of some generic park or modern MLB park pics (the 53 Dodgers in Chavez Ravine? I don't think so). And what better way to evoke an era than what they wore on the field? I think they worked out rather well and I'm glad you find them useful.

I've uploaded a set of the 30 modern jerseys (like the ones pictured above) to Baseball Sim Central... they were my test set to see how they'd look. It appears they haven't posted any new files since August, so we'll see how long it takes before those are available. Should be a few days, but you never know...

I think I'll start this series with the 47-60 jerseys since that is a very popular era then follow that with 80-present then back in time to pick up 01-46.

I'll post as these become available.

As an aside, I'm also considering releasing a few other sets of historical logos... all 1901-present... but have yet to see if they display well enough so lets get this one finished first.

Great. It's interesting to see how some PureSim fans concentrate on the nuts & bolts of the game, while others contribute to the graphics. I've added different music alternatives to the game, but these can't be shared as they are copyrighted works (sorry).

In any case, it's really encouraging to see the enthusiasm and participation of the gamers into helping Shaun make this game an all-time classic. My cap is off to you, and here's a toast. [sm=party-smiley-012.gif]
