ORIGINAL: j campbell Hi, I am trying the historical campaign against the computer to become more familiar with the system- large step up from UV. This has me somehwat confused- in the manual a base can draw supplies ( resources/oil?) overland to fulfill its needs. If I as japanese player send shipments of rsources and oil back to Tokyo/osaka do i need to place all the bases outside of Honshu that have HI and manpower into an auto convoy system so that they get the supplies they need to manage the industry or will they draw from tokyo and osaka? Just dump oil and resources into your port of choice in the Home Islands and they will be distributed via the rail net from there. There is a 5HI factory on the island north of Hokkaido that you will need to take oil to.... caveat: you have to watch what you are doing here, you can only have up to 999,999 of oil, resource, supply, or fuel at a single base. Beyond that it vanishes. You may need to spread the wealth around to a couple of locations in the HI. quote:
on the first turn as japanese player do you place the home industry bases into an aouto convoy system with osaka so that they resupply when needed ro do you do this manually? As IJ, I do not use the auto supply system, nor do I recommend its use by anyone. Supply for IJ is so tight that you should control every aspect of its distribution yourself. As for oil and resources, I don't think the auto-convoy system is set up to handle them. quote:
Seems that Fromosa and saigon would have to be inculded as well as thy have HI. Yes, you will need to take oil to both of these places, and some to China as well. At some point during the first half of 42 you will have taken the oil centers on Sumatra, Java, and Borneo. From there you will be shipping oil north in some manner. I like to bring TK from the oil centers to a central location in the DEI which becomes a hub for all types of activities, form a large convoy of oil and resource bearing ships there, and send it north with appropriate escort. You can either peel off TK from these to Saigon etc, or you can send entire convoys there. I like the latter approach as you can dump several month's worth of oil at once and not have to think about it again for some time.
