jrlans -> SF to Karachi (11/11/2005 9:31:30 PM)

Ive heard that you can transfer units from SF to Karachi by having them go off map by changing there HQ? How does this work (I just tried it in my game vs the AI and didnt see the units dissapear from SF also didnt see them on the groun rienforcement scheduel)

Only LCU's can be moved this way.
To SEAC or China Command, 60 days.
They will show up on the reinforcement screen, next turn.

Any LCU in a West Coast base, or Canada, can be sent.
It doesn't have to be in SF.[;)]

Pardon my massive ignorance, but ... what's an LCU?

LCU=land combat unit. Only land units can be sent this way, no airgroups or ships.

Good, that's what I thought. :)

This seems like an extremely good idea then. India is really short of combat units. Move a couple US divisions into India instead of sailing them to Australia for several months then sitting around there. They'll be useful in India in early 42 but they can't be used in the Solomons until the allies get massively better air power. Obviously the political points for a division are a problem though, but it still seems more useful than spending those points on other ground units.

So what am I missing?

The West Coast divisions have a huge PP cost, I never had enough to send them to India.

I send the SeaBees earmarked for NorPac to India, the British only have a couple of engineering units there, and they arent as good as SeaBees.

Sardaukar -> RE: SF to Karachi (11/14/2005 2:01:05 PM)

What I usually send is US artillery units and tank battaillons. Both have less use for amphibious invasions than infantry but are very useful in Burma/India with decent PP cost.

Dino -> RE: SF to Karachi (11/14/2005 8:38:46 PM)

A good way to have a lot of LCUs arrrive in Karachi at small PP cost is to change assignement of a regional HQ.
For instance, if you assign NorPac HQ to SEA, all LCU replacements assigned to NorPac will be arriving at Karachi
at usual dates (acctualy not all, only those that originally arrive at SF), and the HQ itself will arrive in 60 days.
