Combat Animations freeze - 12/2/2005 11:42:38 AM

When viewing a combat, the combat animation screen freeze for 10-15 sec every time the game show an animation that is used for the first time. For example if a DD fires a torpedoes and hit, the game lock up until it display the torpedo hit animation. If the DD fires again with torpedoes, the animations appears immediately, while if the DD use her guns it will freeze again to load gun hit/miss animation...

This happens only the first time an animation is loaded (until I close WPO).

I also noticed that for every animation the game use, a icon with the words "FF" is shown on the windows bar (on bottom right, near the clock)...

Anyone can help here?

Thx for replying!

I will rename the folder as you said as workaround!

Isn't there a solution to fix the problem?

What are your system specs? The "freezing" could be your computer loading the bmps in your video cards memory.

Renaming the "Sound" folder worked... but I really like listen to the immersive background music and aboveall a big explosion when a torpedo of mine struck the newly arrived enemy BB...

My computer specs are very good (AMD Turion 64 (I'm running the 32 bit standard version of WinXP Pro, so it's not the 64bit CPU to cause problems), ATI RADEON X700 128MB, 2GB RAM), so it's something related to some audio files, like torpedo impacts, shell hit and miss and probably aircraft gunfire...

What kind of soundcard do you have? Its not the sound files (they work everywhere else), it could be your sound card causing hiccups.
