Well, some of the Chindit operations were inserted by glider, but I don't know if they were parachute qualified.

i've retaken burma, now i want to send some units to sumatra, but i've no expirience with paradrops. i don't want to commit "an island to far" kind of operation.

Oh, you meant in-game? Well, I don't think there are any... I mean, there is the 50th Indian Parachute Brigade, but it's not comprised of Airborne Squads, so...

You can air move units from your own bases to another of your own base with some load restrictions on some devices but to airdrop on an enemy base, the unit needs to have airborne troops as a device. The only ones being the US paratroop & maybe the Marine paratroops (not positive on them as I've never gotten far enough in to use them). I wish that units like the Chindits & such others were paradrop capable since they were historically maybe some patch in the future will fix it.

The Chindits weren't paradropped, they were glider landed. Big difference...

This is a good point, Then indian Unit has worked for me personaly in the paratroper role, I captued a base with them as Paratroppers, But the game does not model glider boarn units at all afik.

Well, none in game, obviously. I was talking in the real world. Requires less specialised training.

The ability of a LCU to be air-dropped does not rely on the devices it has.

But on a hidden flag in the database. [Column _sym in WITPload]

UnitNumber Name _sym
3054 50th Indian Para 13

It can definitely be parachute landed. I just tested it. Wonder why they had to set it via a "hidden flag", and not just make it user definable? That would seem to indicate that it's not possible to add more para units to the game...

It is, if you use one of the utilities like WITPload or WITPexcel(?).
The _sym actually changes the icon from infantry to airborne (if =13) or cavalry (if=12).

MikeW once posted why the editor was done that way, but I can't remember what it was.

Hmm, I knew about the _sym thing from WPO, when Tanker gave cavalry units the proper icons.
