Nothing like a nice glass of wine. GF Unit and I are going to crack open a bottle this evening...a nice Cabernet Saviognon that we brought back from a little California winery.

A toast to the Thread brethren

I'm a big fan of Californian wines.......care to name names...........I have a Nice Californian lined up for Christmas........in fact two ..........

Sure, but I am a novice when it comes to wines.

We have one that comes from a small winery called Bailey. Our favorite of theirs is a blend called Meritige

The only Cal Winery I know is called Ironstone... Not a big wine drinker meself...

I have had that label, I think. Not bad.

IMO California wines, probably like those of Europe come in two varieties, the mass produced and the small boutique labels. We tend to prefer the smaller boutique labels, though I don't know that our pallettes are sophisticated enough to know what is a great wine.

The large corporate wineries turn out decent wines, but they have little character. That's what the GF unit and I liked about the Bailey wines. They seemed unique...and pleasant.

How do you get the wines Faber? Do you have distributors that carry them there or do you have them shipped?

I get what I can from the UKs ....execellent wine trade......one of the best in the world.....tradition.....along with the slave trade.........some I have from the last time I was in CA........because some the wineries sell only small amounts from the winery direct..........wine, I admit, is this penguin's weakness/passion........

I have no idea Scott, I play the allies mostly. It probably has something to do with engine production. I think most of our JFBs are absent tonight. Save Mynok and Faber of course.
