Compltely OT from lynching Nik ..

anyone mad enough to read this thread might be interested in tonights TV ..

21:00 Today
Channel 4
Fat Pets
A humorous look at the obese pets of Britain. Millions of animals are overweight through overfeeding, driving some owners to book their pets into clinics and gyms. Others turn to animal behaviourists and even surgery to cut the weight of their loved ones

Can Quality control sink any lower

Easy solution to fat pets .. stop feeding them so much you ignorant t%$^s ! .. Excercise. I wonder if the Owners are an obese as thier pets. would not suprise me. Personally I'm not going near this TV programme ( Cant afford to lose any more brain cells).

TV's awful .. too many soaps/game shows .. etc etc. but that one just had to be highlighted as the bottom of the barrel. Brings a whole new meaning to 'lowest common denominator' .

Even inaccurate discovery channel TV ( apart from building a chopper bike ( WTF is that doing on discovery) at least has some purpose) .. BUT FAT PETS !!!!!

sigh .. when the UK goes digital i think i'll give up TV altogether.

Speedy, please reference section 19.2.3 extra special rules section of the WitP manual. The above are not permitted when committed to PBEM games, especially the etc. part.

Faber, one of the few times that I have to disagree with you. Apparently there is a large pent-up demand for TV programming that requires 2 or fewer funcitoning brain cells to enjoy. The TV execs are just providing people what they want I guess.

GF and I have sworn of new TV. I have been having fun sharing with her the "classics" like X-files, STNG and of course, one of my all time favorites, Northern Exposure.

i have to go with faber on this. There are times they DELIBERATELY try to kill viable shows because they are p*ssed at the creator. That's just dumb. Usually they succeed - they manage to fail in the case of Matt Groening's "Futurama", though.

I think it's a chicken/egg scenario.......with TV execs now trying to find something lower-brow than before.....and people watch it because that is all that is on (more fool them)...... Most TV is designed as to not challange someone over a 9 year olds reading level.....alas.

I think TV execs are probably most concerned with cost vs ratings. They will crank out the lowest cost product they can that will still get people to tune in. Sadly, you're right, it takes very little for people to want to tune in.

You're spot on niceguy....it is all about the Cost vs ratings axis.....and very little, if at all, about quality
