Good to know. Explains the funny looks i've been getting for years

New job - leave here on 14th July and start the new one on 17th July. Really looking forward to it. Mentally i'm there already. I do fear it will dramatically affect my time here. I doubt very much i'll be able to look and post here whilst at work. I'll still be able to play WiTP et al in the evenings all being well. It will affect things though

I really liked Saving Private Ryan as a war movie. What I've seen of Band of Brothers looks good too. I'll add Platoon and Casualties of War in there. But Ryan was the best.

So, Speedy....will this improve diplomatic relations with Turkey in your own, personal Empires in Arms saga?

You ought to come over to experience Origins, our national gaming convention. The wierdos come out of the woodwork. I call them greasy twitchers. It's the type of teenage (sometimes much older!) goofball who lives for roleplaying games. They work just enough to pay for Games Workshop figures and then spraypaint them one color so they can use them the day they got them. At Origins a large percentage of these GTs come all dressed up. Last year there was a large number of females who barely wore gothic type clothing. Vampires wandering around. Really wierd.

Edit: And then there's Mogami.......

Hi Mynok - I can't think of anything that would guarantee good relations with Turkey

It's a constant 'diplomatic battle' with a fair splattering of good and heated times.

There are many ups and downs and as such I don't mention them anymore

Mike - WTF?!? Vamps at Origins. And I thought about coming along too

So the heated times are not the same as the good times?

I'm bringing my camera. In addition to blackmailing Mogami, I'll try to get some interesting pics to post here.

Ok, let me be a little more accurate. "Interesting" within the confines of this forum. I guess that means not very interesting at all.

Hi, Yes there is a Vampire role playing game (I don't play role playing games) But my favorites are the girls who wear bunny ears, lab coats and fluffy slippers. (Looney Labs, they design games for parties and stuff and always have a few they test at Origins. They stay up all night so if you snooze nearby the security leaves you alone thinking you are part of that group)

The Major can't blackmail me I'm not ashamned of anything I do. But more importantly he is going to buy the beer at the VFW. Beer inside Origins is like 5.00 for a glass of draft and thats just too silly to comment on. At the VFW I bet we get pitchers for 5.00 (or less)

I'm not sure if Bear is driving me down or not.  But we should have a Matrix beer bash at the VFW once the booth closes for the night.

Hi, did you find the VFW yet?  (Is it in walking distance of Convention Center?)

Hilliard VFW Post 4931 (9.8 miles from Convention Center)
2436 Walcutt Road
Columbus, Ohio 43228-9618

VFW Buckeye Post 1598 (2.4 miles from Convention Center)
677 E 11TH Ave
Columbus, OH 43211-2611
(614) 291-2516

Vfw Post 3764 Ohio Capital (3.9 miles from Convention center)
(614) 252-9055
1757 E Livingston Ave
Columbus, OH 43205

2.4 miles is not that bad. I bet there is a bus or something but I think post 3764 will be my home away from home during Origins

Hi, I have to get my license for the Guard. I stopped driving but I know how. (I don't own a car but now I'm putting my motorcycle back together)
(However I never drive if I have had as much as 1 glass of beer in the last 12 hours)

Hilliard VFW Post 4931 (9.8 miles from Convention Center) <-- This joint is a mile or two from my house. Nice place.
2436 Walcutt Road
Columbus, Ohio 43228-9618

VFW Buckeye Post 1598 (2.4 miles from Convention Center) <-- Scary part of town. I wouldn't want to walk there (or get off a bus there at night.
677 E 11TH Ave
Columbus, OH 43211-2611
(614) 291-2516

Vfw Post 3764 Ohio Capital (3.9 miles from Convention center) <-- This is my choice. You have to walk through a bad neighborhood to get there but it's on the edge of German village. Lots of good beer joints and lots of yuppies.

1757 E Livingston Ave

I liked the movie, but I will probably never watch it again.

If it was up to me, I would have blown that bridge and let the engineers rebuild it with a Bailey bridge. What would it have taken them 2 maybe 3 hours?

Ok, new poll. This one is open eneded. What is the hands down, most realistic, makes your pulse race, sitting on the edge of your seat, makes you jump up out of your chair and sing your national anthem, best war movie you have ever seen?

I'd have to think about it. It might be Zulu for me.

To answer Niceguy seriously, I think Battle of Britain and the Longest Day fit the description of what he is asking for.

I think the movie that best fit's this question for me is however,

Gettysburg.

I loved this movie and it was 4 hours long

Hi, "Gettysburg" would have been a better movie if they had cut out about 60 minutes of "Winnie" "Lew" "winnie" "Lew"
"Gods and Generals" had too much "fluff" (They don't even show the Valley Campaign"

I agree Bruce. A dated docu now (so some factual errors) but a well presented documentary that I always found to be realtively un-biased.
