They are not really a huge problem for us because when I see a mound, I spread the bait. The colonies gone in 2 to 3 days. However, if i don't see the mound and then step on it they are viscious. I have been known to have to use the water hose to get them off my legs. Our Boston Terrier does a pretty good job of avoiding them.

Not a problem for me since i've been having them eliminated on a systematic basis.

I have an unfortunate reaction of blistering whenever i'm bitten by them (sort of looks like poison ivy.)

Growing up in Texas, it was common to have mounds of those little bastards. Before I mowed the lawn, I always stopped by those little mounds with a gas can and matches. Didn't solve the problem permanantly, but I didn't have problem when I mowed the grass either.......

Folks have tried such things on those little nasty rascals, usually with results more unfortunate to the exterminators than the exterminatees. I know of people who even have used dynamite.

Alas, the best solution seems to be poison...

For the most part, the bait is relatively begign. (spelling?). The entimologists up at the University of Florida recommend boiling water. It works, I tried it, but I hated waiting for the water to boil.

Okay. I have done some research and found 3 decent threads on Japanese aircraft production (and a couple where all that happened was that the arguements grew nasty). I have put those in a word file for now. Hopefully tomorrow, I will start a new how to thread for production and reference these 3 nice thread lines.

I also plan on starting a thread line on land combat - with questions like how to form a defensive line how do you delay the enemy on defense etc. I do not have the questions fully formed in my mind yet.

I am hoping to start a couple of constructive threads for newbies like me.

I know you guys want fresh PBEM mea.... I mean opponents

Bruce

Actually, Mr. Bobcat is across the creek on what i think is Corp of Engineers property (i think - not sure where the Corp prop stops and a horse ranch starts).

My property has trees, but not as much undergrowth as seen here. Actually, it is a gorgeous piece of land... but then there is the House/Money Pit located on the land. The house is slowly getting into shape, though.

Interesting fire ant story. Back in the day, I was a pretty dern good volleyball player. Used to go to a huge tournament in Columbia, SC every year. This was held on a polo field, sometimes known as fire ant condos. They would put out poison a few weeks before but it never gets them all.

Anyway, I'm sitting on the ground refing a game when a thousand hot needles attack my nether regions. I halt the game immediately and run to the nearest hose, drop my shorts and hose off the beans and franks for all to see. It was a moment that I'm sure many relive in their nightmares to this day.

dynamiting fire ants sounds fun but fire ants are indestructible creatures and that situation can turn bad with a million fire ants flying through the air believe me I am from texas. there is a saying that if doomsday comes the roaches and rats will survive include fireants on that list.

I am most happy we have so few 'dangerous' critters over here. No poisonous spiders. Only the Adder is a dangerous snake etc.

Okay, FOUR poisonous species...

The two REAL animals are a type of adder (probably exactly the same as yours), and an evil little spiny type of fish that you can step on and seriously hurt yourself.

Wish I could move them. They are just sitting there in 'Garrison' mode. Garrison mode. WTF?!? If I was properly in charge there they be constructing mindefields etc and getting ready to kick some Limey arse not sitting there strung out in the desert waiting to get tw*tted

Just so you know no turns from me until tomorrow since out with a mate in London tonight
