Back from the cinematic excursion. "Dead Man's Chest" wasn't as good as "Curse of the Black Pearl", but pretty close...

IT'S A MIRACLE!!!

The first miracle performed by The Thread!!!

Pompack's and my game turns have been helplessly out of synch, as he has been strafing my PT boats (doesn't like the lil' buggers, it seems... )

Anyway, because of this, the turns have been out of sync - but suddenly (and despite continued strafing of my PTs) - WE'RE IN SYNC AGAIN!!!

It has to be due to intervention of The Thread!!!

Not only that, I set my Dutch bombers to 5000 and they plastered an unescorted convoy invading Palembang. Those guys are ashore with no supplies. One more turn and by by transports

The Prince of Wales and Repulse + escorts took on 2 IJN DD's and the Jintsu (at Kendari). The combat animations says the 2 destroyers are gone and that the CL took 81 shell hits. She should be history. . Those guys are ashore without supplies 2. There are several carriers coming down from Borneo I think they want the BB and BC. Time to head for points south.

I am now on 1/25

Glad to have you back Robert. Its always a joyous occasion when the house is filled with loved ones (even if it does tend to remind you how much you grate on each others nerves in close proximity  ). Have a great time, but The Thread still expects at least one post a day, and "Dad, youre weird" is not a valid excuse not to post.

BTW, any other grognards in the family?

TITHE

I went to see this last night with the GF. I agree with T in general not as good as no.1 but pretty good.

One thing I would say is that (even though I knew it was in effect a 1/2 way point in a film) I think they tried to cram in too much as such so much is happening in the film and it seems a bit rushed at some points for me.

Worth a watch though.

LOL. You will have to elaborate on the differences sometime. I have worked for a number of US firms, but I have never gone jetting off the the VPs mansion. Sounds like a grueling schedule you poor lad.

Seriously when life calms down I would love to hear more about it. Enjoy!

Hi Niceguy,

My take on it is this. In many ways this company (US firm - Riverbed) appears to be the opposite of my last company (UK firm - Added Dimension). During this past week the whole work ethic and approach of Riverbed has been there to see. In many ways I see it as being better but I need to get used to it and adapt.

In short, there is a hell of a lot more motivation and energy arouind all echelons of the business. Also the focus on targets and money is greater too. Not that in the old job it wasn't but it wasn't emphasised in such detailed terms on a daily basis.

The language and terminology used is vastly different with terms, acronyms and jargon used much more often repeatedly. The above 2 differences are the hardest to adapt too at present.

There is also a much greater pace of work and quantity of work associated with the job. I must say though I don't attribute this to it being a US firm but just to it being the nature of the company and the role (I was expecting this and the same could apply to a UK firm).

Well better get booking my flights to San Francisco today............

Hi Raver,

Probably not.

I am unsure when to fly. Either next Saturday or Sunday.

Monday - Wednesday are totally taken up with meetings/presentations etc.

Flying back on Thursday.

How long is Wife Mk1 away for?
